Are wood burners being banned?

bring back coal. way better than wood. wish i could put a open fire in my flat, would heat it up far cheaper.
I think you're forgetting how much hassle and how inefficient they were, having to lug coal out of the coal house, having to plan it properly and set them off early. There's a reason we evolved to gsh and thats coming from a firebug
The burning of wet wood is being banned.
That's typically wood with a moisture content above 20%
It you buy kiln dried logs you will be OK
Aye for about £8 a bag which completely defeats the object, gas is cheaper than that🤣. I'm gonna start collecting would now and store it, might even make a mini kiln

Does feel a bit like that, doesn't it?

In reality the average* wood burner chucks out loads of shit into the air. So in urban areas, that's probably a very bad idea. In rural spaces though, I don't see how its a problem at all.

* yes yes, I'm sure whoever argues with me on this point only burns the best, cleanest, driest wood known to man etc etc.
I am being poisoned by my neighbours one, have been for years. Got ionisers and dehumidifiers in back back bedrooms, all the soffits, fascias and guttering on my house is covered in dust so the shite we are inhaling must be knacking me and the family. I have tried umpteen times to talk to them but they not interested "clean fuel" Council say chimney is legal height. I can't afford a solicitor so all I can do is ask council to serve abatement notice but doubt they interested. I hate wood burners, it's obviously bad for people.

Does feel like we're going backwards like, took decades to get rid of coal fires and now we're burning wood because gas is too expensive 🤣
But it's just well off middle class people who have them. It's a new fad to impress your friends and I know that because I read it on here.
Nobody is having these installed because we're being ripped off with gas prices and they can't afford the cost. That's not the reason.

You'll find on the woodburner thread that's not the case. Middle class 🤣 on here, talk about being deluded (not you by the way)

We don’t rely on our wood burner as we have gas central heating, but if we only need to heat one room then we burn kiln dried hardwood.

The chimney is cleaned every year.

Will our log burner be cancelled?

A mate works for a Washington business that makes flues and they are now inundated with work. It's all because of log burners being in such high demand. It certainly isn't just middle class better offs having them installed. Unless we're all middle class now.:)

Open fires aren't particularly efficient. You can have it blazing away and hot but most of the heat disappears up the chimney. A log burner gets hot and the ironwork radiates and convects heat into the room.

Both are nice to look at though.
A woodburner produces 9 times more heat for the same amount of fuel than an open fire. The main problem is as you said, heat goes up the chimney.

Got one fitted two weeks back, has is dow ln to 80p a day now and house never been as warm , class.

we get our logs deleoevred and they are seasoned , moon dried . Bar the first 5 mins the chimney chuck nowt out

they are not been banned, did loads of research before , they will ban old burners that are not certain specs for effi etc imo. Think ours is 87%
