Are wood burners being banned?

We've got one of these in the house & love it. Was also going to get one in out building as well. I can get daft cheap wood so heating bills almost nowt.

But seen contradictory stuff. Papers saying govt already encouraging councils to fine people using them.

But then went on a few wood burner manufacturers sites they say its bollocks. Just that you need a new clean one that meets regs. But then they kinda have to say that.

Anyone bought one & know what crack is?

If you can get free or cheap fuel they're gonna try and ban it.
Does feel a bit like that, doesn't it?

In reality the average* wood burner chucks out loads of shit into the air. So in urban areas, that's probably a very bad idea. In rural spaces though, I don't see how its a problem at all.

* yes yes, I'm sure whoever argues with me on this point only burns the best, cleanest, driest wood known to man etc etc.

I live in a small town in Tyne valley so sort of semi urban.
For now....

That's the thing. At what point does it become "not banned" but basically impossible to get anything that can meet that?

No

How will the Tories warm their quail and truffle pies on a Sunday evening!?
What are you on about? It's ordinary people who will be affected by it. The people who at the moment are relying on log burners and using free, scrap wood, fallen trees, etc. to heat their homes.

It's nothing to do with party politics, they're all as bad as each other on punitive green policies that don't actually deal with anything but make life harder.

Hopefully, house opposite has one and it f***ing stinks.
There`s some round here that belch out black smoke and you can smell them from some way away. You always know that you are approaching certain houses when it`s cold because you smell them first. It`s toxic. Problem is people burn inappropriate stuff - wet wood and the like. I knew of someone who used old palettes and boxes, many of which were painted or varnished and the stink was horrific. That not only gets spewed into the air but some will go into their living rooms. Personally, while I think they are good from an economical viewpoint, they are bad for the environment - unless everyone uses the correct, smokeless fuels, which unfortunately they don`t.

Wish someone would ban the scrunt that lives two doors up from me, he’s forever sawing (mitre saw) site off cuts and anything else he can get his hands on for nowt, my car is permanently covered in f#cking sawdust.

The sooner they're banned in urban areas the better. They're absolutely horrendous for air quality, even the supposedly eco friendly ones. I don't want to be breathing in grim air so some middle class bloke can have the latest fad in their living room.

Found a good article on it. Basically it's about the emissions that your log burner could give off could land you with a fine. But it also states.

“We are not considering a ban on domestic burning in England,” the plan states.

Personally I would love one but as we aren't open plan it wouldn't be a worthwhile saving

I agree. We should also ban cows and cars.

Does feel like we're going backwards like, took decades to get rid of coal fires and now we're burning wood because gas is too expensive 🤣

Jesus marra, take a breather. Gone stright ower ya head
Of course, that's nearly impossible to measure.
So they'll establish a limit, realise it won't work and then what will they do?

That's what I thought. I read somewhere you can be fined £300 for outputting more smoke than you should be. Short of having someone stood outside your house with a measuring device, there'll be no way they can control it like
