Are The Moralists Still Not Watching?

Im only quoting what Arabic people have told me....they feel safer in their own countries than in USA and feel concern for their children growing up in a society of drugs , race hatred and homicides....the majority of them are planning in returning to Middle east
OK. Good for them. They obviously agree that homosexuality should be illegal, and don't mind a little bit fascism. I do mind, therefore didn't watch it. Do you think homosexuality should be illegal?

Absolutely. Before the world cup there were a few people starting threads about boycotting it and the moral issues, but it looks like most not watching it are just quietly getting on doing other things. For me with most of the games seeming to be while I'm at work and I don't have a live TV source, avoidance is easy.

The ones starting the threads now are from people who seem to be very angry at other people not watching something they are. Probably a sign that they are insecure about watching it themselves, so hitting out and almost trying to draw posts from those who have chosen not to watch it, who would otherwise be quiet.
Yep. It's a pretty innocuous, personal stance, that has whipped a few up into a frenzy. Apparently I am not allowed to watch the u.s.a one now.
Not really the point. Are they persecuted?
Yeah, they are. It's awful

you didnt watch a football match because the country thinks Homosexuality is a act against religion and God.....well thats up to you too....but we are talking about a sporting event and you have put your political view on one subject in front of that......good for you but I think all those footballers who were in Qatar where magnificent and you decided not to watch them because of an agenda that has nothing to do with football.

My concern for you is what other things do you not support and what other blocks do you put in place because if you dont then you are a hypocrite. For example:-

Russia and China - do you not use any products that come from that country - which pretty much is an awful lot like fuel , wheat , electricals etc.Other Middle east countries that produce oil and have oppressive regimes ....do you go about your life picking and choosing what to eat , buy and watch based on what country they are from....can you see how bizarre and hypocrtical you are

Why are you concerned for me? I don't like the fact 1000's of workers died making those stadiums to watch the football. So it really does have something to do with football, doesn't it?
The same clownshoes (100% white men/ boys) who boo players taking the knee, Greta what’s her name, and anything else that Piers Morgan doesn’t like
Aye mate, I have already had the knee mentioned to me by one of the lunatics

Hitler at the begin did not want the games.
Hitler wasn't in power when Berlin was chosen but he certainly used the games politically. A warning to the world. His actions from 1933 onwards should have had the games cancelled or moved.

never watched any of it other than inadvertently turning over and it was on, last night i thought i will watch the England match but same old shite, boring pass it across the back, stone to McGuire to stone to McGuire repeat repeat repeat, Henderson showing for a pass then passing it straight back even if they are close to a French player, he did this over and over and over again, turned it off after 15 minutes and put on a movie from my archives, the Professionals, Lee Marvin, Burt Lancaster, the gorgeous Claudia Cardinale, Great movie.

Burt lancaster is in some terrific films. Elmer Gantry is amazing, my papas favourite ever

The Sweet Smell of Success is one of my favourite films. Some of the finest acting. I don't think it gets the recognition it deserves. Watched Local Hero again recently. Great film.

I'm autistic and look at things in a weird way. I see people making a stance on somethings and not others that are also immoral and it just doesn't compute. If there was a 'moral standard' that countries agreed on and were either in or out I'd go with it. Boycott anything to do with the bad lot and live happily ever after with the good lot. It doesn't work like that though and there's just too much cherry picking by everyone for me to care about any of it. I've got no problem with anyone making their private or public for that matter protest. I just look at the hypocrisy of it all.

It's alot easier to not watch the world cup than give up using all products from Russia and China (not sure if that was you saying about them)

Let's hope they don't have children who are gay or who dont believe in the prophet Mohammed.
Let's hope that they don't want to become political and criticise the regime

Sort of but sort of not. We can't make a significant contribution as individuals to anything. Agreements on the international stage also mean nothing if some are in while others are out. I'm happy for a wholesale change. A legal internationally binding framework of laws and standards (a bit like the EU  ) where those inside refuse to engage with those on the outside. Don't trade with them, no sport etc. We may be worse off temporarily but in the long run the world would be a better place.

Sounds daft I know, but I can't be arsed to make an effort that makes no difference. Bit of a ramble I know
