I'm not a Southgate hater but it was clear from about 30 mins on that Italy were likely to score.

Football is all about momentum and pressure and we sat back Hoping for 1-0 and allowed Italy to take control.

With our young squad we were always on the back foot to win by penalties.

It was a performance where we were to frightened to lose to push on to get a win.

Dear God.

Lost a penalty shoot out in Euro final, Semi Final of the World Cup. Yes, sack the manager...........

100%. We allowed ourselves to be scared of Italy and changed our game.

Very young team to ask to play without fear.

Someone has been waiting for this moment to have a pop at a manager who has got it right 98% of the tournament, and even the 2% was unlucky due to pens.

I keep being told he’s played ‘tournament football’ which I think is coded language for negative wank.

We’ve played a decent side tonight and been found out, again.

This is what will keep happening under Sourhgate, he’s adequate but nowt flash.

You have been waiting for this, one more miss from them and Saka scores, we won Euro 2020, that is how close it was.

I think we had Italy contained until they took Immobile off and moved Chiesa to the left. He always wanted to cut inside, and for some reason they gave him the opportunities to do it instead of shunting him down the line. Helped them to get the corner they scored from. When we did switch to the 4-3-3 and Chiesa went back to the right we contained them more, though they still had that surge from the equaliser and a belief they were going to get a second. We broke forward now and then, but failed to create goal scoring chances.

Sadly Henderson looked off the game so we lost Rice harrying players in the middle getting the ball back not letting us get a grip back into the game. And Mount being invisible didn't help much either. Rashford or Sancho should have come on instead of Saka as they have a bit more experience.

He’s been saying it himself, the Germany formation put him under pressure and just about worked but it was a grim watch.

We’ve been poor to watch throughout, I keep being told to get behind them but I’m not sure what I’m meant to be supporting.

My club is in League One, I’ll applaud effort there, from the best the country can produce in a tournament my standards are a little higher.

He's got lucky all tournament. If Portugal or France had finished second we have been knocked out ages ago and then we got massively lucky playing Ukraine and Denmark to get to the final. Even my gran could've managed us past those two
1-1 is not being schooled

Not schooled as in Jack Ross was a great manager for us? We were deservedly beaten, just so happened we were lucky it got to penalties
