Anyone walked over a frozen pond/lake?

Did it on siky lakes with few others when age about 12/13… stupid thing to do . Would hate to see anyone doing it as we all know what outcome could be , and if you saw inevitable happen would you cross the ice to try and help ??
It’s arnly 3 foot deep so probably.

Gingerly tip-toed my way out onto Ghost Lake in Canada having no idea if it was safe or not.

Got about 30 metres out walking like a cartoon burglar when one of the locals drove straight out onto it in a pick-up the size of a small house, felt a bit of a tit.
When I worked in Holland me and a mate would go skating on the canals after work. All the locals did it so it must have been safe.
They used to have a massive skate race along the frozen canals in the Netherlands, it was over 100 miles long, looked really cool but I think they had to knock it on the head due to the winters not being quite cold enough regularly enough.

Was playing winter golf one day and a lad teed off in from of me, pulled the ball left and the ball trundled along an icy pond. The pond had a temp fence around it, sigh to say stay off the ice and a rescue ladder in case anyone did fall in. The daft fecker walks over to the iced up pond, taps it with a club and then gingerly walks/slips over to his ball with his club in hand and plays it where it lies, he even went and retrieved some other balls left on the pond that others thought better to leave

As a stupid kid the pond at Roker park was where we used play and we walked or skidded on the ice during the winter.

People were walking over Lake Tjornin when I was in Reykjavik but I didn't feel confident doing that.

Yeah, walked across the frozen stretches of water between islands in central Stockholm. Skated on it, too. Plenty of locals doing it, so wasn’t worried.

Aye. James Steele pond as a youngun.

Took dog out yesterday through the woods and two ok fa frozen over. Put him on the lead as all I could think is if he ran on and went in I would be in after him.

Was walking through Mowbray park yesterday and there were three people on the pond. One lad, probably about 7/8 was stamping on it while his mother just stood and watched from about 20m away. Unfortunately it held firm.

Ha ha was just about to say the same. My mate lobbed a rock next to me. Straight through.

Was more worried about the pike getting me than the cold. Was just after the pike took the dog.
