Anyone sold their house after buying it through the RTB scheme?

I remember a clause in the paperwork that mentioned giving gentoo first refusal. Just wondering if they do buy their houses back, or are they okay with you selling it normally?

Also, are you okay to start marketing the house a few months before the 5 year preemption period is up, as long as you complete the sale just after?

We’ve less than 2 years to go now, and just want to plan ahead. Thanks in advance.

you have to offer it to the council (or gentoo in your case) first before you put it on the market. you offer it to them at your full asking price including the discount. its just a formality and they ewill refuse the offer and then your good to go as long as it has been 5 years since you bought it. if it is less then you have to repay some of the discount on a sliding scale.

Rants about Farage and Gammons and turns out to be the worst kind of repugnant. Someone who deprives the country of social housing stock so he can get on the ladder and feel superior

Must be why I and many others can't get a council house. If you're now in the place in life where you can buy a house get out of social housing and buy one.

You will be paying £400 rent for a house while the rest of us private renting are paying £550+ for a flat, Id happily pay the lesser and stick the rest away in a LISA for a house purchase.

Call me what you want, sunshine.

Rent was £425pm, mortgage is £192pm.

Being repugnant is saving me £14k over 5 years and generating £65k profit when we sell.

Still feeling smug with yourself?

Even more so now. Making a profit from housing designed to relieve homelessness and provide a secure environment for lower paid families and being happy to gloat about it? Even worse than repugnant, downright Thatcherite

And you’re not a bit jealous, of course.
Give your head a wobble, man.

Would anyone in their right mind turn down a promotion and pay rise at work just because they’d no longer be considered working class?

You’ll be suggesting socialism is akin to communism next. Oh, too late.
This is the kid who said he drives through Southwick every now and again to feel better about himself

That’s more to do with dignity and self respect than politics.

It's to do with you being an enormous, throbbing, condescending bell

How long were you a tenant with Gentoo?

Thanks for asking, 23 years (adding the time with gentoo to the tine with the council.

More faux outrage?

It's more about being lucky than condescending, sunshine.

BTW, faux means fake.

Did you ever consider yourself repugnant or feel terrible for denying someone a home?

Nope, of course not. Nor I.
