yep and the idea of celebrating 'the twelfth' was to commemorate the battle of Aughrim originally. The celebrations of the Boyne and Aughrim were combined in 1800s for various reasons with both being celebrated on the twelfth ever since.

This. Aughrim was 12th July 1691

Whatever your perspective the Glorious Revolution was a watershed moment for Britain and was overwhelmingly positive.

Loads different the yanks celebrate their independence but I don't think they hold a load of animosity to the Brits and vice versa. The prods and catholics of Ireland have held onto their hatred for hundreds of years. Stuff like celebrating the battle of the Boyle just reinforces the divides
