Anyone else think that Don and Methven…

Throwing money at it went so well under Short… the club was in dire straits and we are now sustainable

Look they are not likeable but they were one penalty away from sustainably and championship football in the space of one season.
Biggest mistake was of course selling Maja. Promoted automatically if they hadn’t and potentially hero worshipped as saviours had either Maja stayed or that penalty go in.
They were found out as having no medium term plan and then it unraveled. People are rarely all bad but the longer it went on the more history dictated them as chancers.
The difference between success and failure is so often so small

Mini story about Methven From SKP best mate who sadly passed away recently Oxford away a few year ago under Parkinson Methven chatting away to SKP after we beat them 1-0 ‘see that’s the thing about these Oxford fans they’ve lost and look they still are okay, not like that lot don’t know who they think they are complaining all the time, just awful they are’
He’s leeched off our clubs name for too Long. Netflix documentary all about him, with any luck that’s the last hopefully football sees of him
The nice tidy sum however much it is even if it was a mesely pound it’s a pound too much, today gives the club some genuine hope despite it being still best part of 20 million short of what they stole

Weren’t that bad at all?

-Got the club sustaining itself after was haemorrhaging it’s way to liquidation.
-Got rid of the problem staff and players
-Eventually got us promotion after a few unlucky misses

I’m not saying they were great and think their time is up now as we have moved up to the championship just saying that I never understood what was meant to be so bad about them. For me the Short reign was far worse and could have easily liquidated the club
"Anyone else think..." 🤣

They were awful. Donald especially in terms of trying to run the club, Methven in terms of being an all round nasty piece of work who couldn't stop himself from criticising Sunderland fans at every turn. We're very lucky that kld came in when he did and actually managed to get a deal done because we were only going one way with those two running the show

i actually don't hate donald anywhere near as much as methven.

and tbh if not for flogging our best youth players i would probably broadly agree with some of the OP however you can't argue they had the club's best interests at heart just by that one simple action. all the other cost cutting exercises i could justify but not that

Called the fans a disease, happy they are pissing off.
it's always our fault.
it's the fault of the 33k that pay their money.
it's the fault of the 46k that turned up on boxing day
it's the fault of those fans who sang at wembley.

What do I know? It's my fault.

Not a good look mate. No debate just subtle insult. Very wokish. Why don’t you Just cancel him
I have debated in the past. He’s a moron. No need to cancel him just approach any of his posts from a knowing angle.

Have we had the 57 billion we were due from taking the physio to court?

Remember not paying £90 quid for a hotel room for that striker and how Donald was not going to give an agent a penny  He then gave 4 million of the clubs money to Wigan for that plank Grigg.

Plenty on here lapped it up.

Leaving the club in a healthier state than when they bought it all of which is absolutely fuck all to do with either of them.

Don't know if anyone still thinks they weren't "that bad" still, but there were some very "prolific" posters on here who backed the wrong horse for way longer than they should have and called out people who could see what was going on, particularly on the finances side.

This isn't really true either to be honest.

When KLD walked through the door we were in desperate need of his financial investment. When Donald walked through the door the vast majority problems we had were covered off by the parachute payments coming in and Short clearing the debt as he left.

Definitely not as people as people say. Look at the club's going to the wall. Bury, Derby etc. Yes, loads of wrongs and I'm not arguing a case. The way they flogged our youth was minging.

selling promising kids
appointing parkinson
clearly way in over their heads

Don’t forget appointing their mate the Richard Hill to oversee player recruitment.

Then appointing Jim Rodwell who I like to call the budget Martin Bain.

People forget a lot of the awful decisions they made, because they were that many of them!

Not to mention decimating the academy and sells the like of Mumba for peanuts to keep the lights on!!

Having met Methven twice on away days, the bloke made my skin crawl. To think people were posing for “selfies” with him and he loved the attention.

Said previously. Throw in Paul Reid too. Awful
