I don't mean by this a 'casual' relationship with someone, but a serious one where you're committed to one another but agree each other can sleep with other people sometimes (or together?).

I guess anyone whose done swinging or the like would fall into this.

What are the pros and cons? Strikes me as a pretty sensible way to do a relationship. Not sure why total monogamy is the best way of expressing your love for someone. Surely two grown adults would be capable of separating sex from love?

I know it wouldn't be for everyone, but anyway, does it work?

Sounds like your other half is looking elsewhere

Aye me

It wasn't agreed mind she just decided to fuck about.

So I tried to shag her sister and was on the brink til I met my current partner.

I realise this wasn't what you meant but I just needed a place to vent marra

No. Not quite what I meant. But hope you feel better for getting that off your chest x

What about open relationships were the third (or fourth... fifth etc) parties are only involved when you're with your girlfriend?

My mate and his partner swings. They do parties, and his partner is an escort. Don't judge them, it's up to them what they do. I guess though you shouldn't have any trust issues; why would you cheat, you'd just tell the other half you want a bit with someone.

Think you need to be totally confident in yourself, your partner, and have total trust in each other, otherwise, it'd be a disaster.

Could you ask your "mate" whether he thinks it works well?

The other way seems alive and kicking, just do it on the side, moan about you're lass to your mates.Women read 50shades and moan to their mates about their fellas etc etc
Lifelong monogamy is pretty hard going and is more about denial and compromise i'd imagine

Kind of my thoughts. The number of people who cheat, fantasise about cheating or seriously consider it must be well over 50%.

Surely there can be some honesty about this at the outset and you work with it?

Ive been slated for saying it before, but I dont think we were meant to be with just one person. Id have loved to have been in a relationship like that, at least to see how it was, but Ive never found a woman with the same views (im on about women in a serious relationship, not just a woman you're sort of seeing).
