Went to JD in Washington today, first time in ages and it was almost empty. Was great no hassle getting on the machines
There are several benefits to wearing wrist wraps for bench press, including increasing joint stability, allowing you to push beyond your normal fatigue limits, keeping your wrist injury-free, giving you the capacity to grip the bar tighter, and making the weight feel lighter in your hands.I’ve just witnessed someone use lifting straps for bench press, is this a normal activity? I thought they were to stop you dropping things when deadlifting
I wear gloves for the same reason. There are several benefits to wearing wrist wraps for bench press, including increasing joint stability, allowing you to push beyond your normal fatigue limits, keeping your wrist injury-free, giving you the capacity to grip the bar tighter, and making the weight feel lighter in your hands.
completely Thor’d off google.
Were they straps or (wrist) wraps? I've never heard of the former but the latter has been explained by the next reply.I’ve just witnessed someone use lifting straps for bench press, is this a normal activity? I thought they were to stop you dropping things when deadlifting
Lifting straps, cos he spent about 30 secs wrapping them around the bar before benching 40kgWere they straps or (wrist) wraps? I've never heard of the former but the latter has been explained by the next reply.
Fair enough. Each to their own I suppose!Lifting straps, cos he spent about 30 secs wrapping them around the bar before benching 40kg
Just watched a different lad use straps for lat pull downsFair enough. Each to their own I suppose!
I use bear grips for lat pull downs, I find my grip goes when I lift heavier and it can help that little bit to take pressure off the grip and just put the strain on back as intended.Just watched a different lad use straps for lat pull downs

If it’s holding back the actual lift then yesShould I use lifting straps?
I’ve been stuck around 140kg for months for my deadlifts, and I wanted to improve my grip instead of using em but I can’t seem to progress. It’s always my grip that goes first, I’ve tried to implement a book grip but at present I can’t use it for any heavier than 100kg- feels like my thumbs are gonna rip off
Cheers, will try someIf it’s holding back the actual lift then yes
