Anybody Got A Bad Feeling About Michut?

I know it's all written and agreed at £2.5m/ £5m, wages agreed etc.

Surely Fulham know this also, so why are they constantly being linked with him?

Obviously they want to unsettle him here and land him for a couple of million to us in compo if we don't go up, say £4.5 m

Premier league, higher wages, closer to home, London lifestyle......it's a no- brainier tbh.

Unfortunately I can see a few more getting Premier moves as well. Namely Patto, Clarke, Neil.

Would be a shame but we all know that's the model.

That feeling of scoring his 1st professional goal at 20 years old and the noise of the fans will stay with him forever, I think we might just be getting under his skin. he's already spoken about the support and I just think he might sign for us

Surely the model would look at buying him, making him better for a few years, then selling him to a premier league club. If they’re sticking to the model so much that they can’t sign an experienced striker or midfielder when we desperately need cover, surely they’ll stick to it here as well. If we don’t get him and he goes to Fulham or whatever, the model hasn’t worked.

What exactly is the model though. It's not just to sell to anyone that comes sniffing. If the offer is too tempting to resist then yes, players will leave , and might even want to leave, but any club outside of the mega bucks teams would be in the same position. It'll come down to KLD and his bargaining power.

I don't think the model means that we accept first bids on any player. It's about developing players until they reach the peak of their value, and then move them on for real money. Michut has had/is having a decent breakthrough season for us, but to cash in on him for a couple of million quid would be crazy. I know we have to agree personal terms with the lad, but IMO he wouldn't get the game time at say Fulham, whereas he will with us. Patto has had the equivalent of one full season as no1 keeper, and both Neil and Clarke are still growing and developing. To accept £5-10million for any of these lads would mean that a Premier league team is taking them as squad players, not as the finished article, ie vastly reduced game time. Also players like Clarke have sell-on clauses which have to be considered. I feel that all mentioned are here for at least another season, unless an absolutely ridiculous offer is put on the table.

My biggest worry for him at the moment is that he seems to be about 7 stone wet through
But he’s tenacious and robust. Some of our best players have been diminutive like Bobby Kerr or, currently, Pritchard. I think back to the great Barcelona team with Messi and Iniesta who were brilliant for them despite their shrinking size.

Tenacious and robust is fine and i'm sure he'll get more physical as he develops but coming up against players like Sander Berge, the physical difference is insane.

Neither Paris nor Sunderland will have any day in the matter if Michut fancies somewhere else to boost his earnings. Nor should they have any say.

There will be interest in all of our young players who are playing well. The key is not just accepting any bid that comes in, Methven and Donald style.

As a recent convert to Michut fan club,I am pretty certain the club only have to trigger the option to keep him mate.

The greatest player to ever kick a ball is about 7.5 stone wet through tbf
He isn’t though is he? Messi is stocky as shit, bet he’s carrying a pretty decent mass of muscle and isn’t easily knocked off the ball at all. Being short isn’t the same as lacking muscle power

It’s never that simple though. We wouldn’t trigger it should the player express a serious desire to not be here. It’s no good signing a player that doesn’t want to be here or anything like that. There’s always the human factor to consider here - it isn’t a computer game like football manager that some on here seem to believe.

Not suggesting that Michut doesn’t want to be here mind, truth is we have no idea what he’s thinking
