Any Pompey fans reaction after the game on here?

I have no complaints. The better team won over 180 minutes, and it ultimately came down to the 15 minutes after half time in the 1st leg.

I was very angry with how we’ve played in these final 5 games, starting with the game against yourselves in the league. At 1-1 at HT, I was feeling nervous but confident. But we were so negative from there and we never really recovered.

We just seemed to die on our feet a bit, and lacked creativity when we needed it. We were worse in the 1st leg for me, but last night there was not enough from us to get level. McLaughlin made some good saves with his feet that were important, but they were comfortable enough. There’s a lot of anger at Jackett this morning for not chucking Curtis or Dennis on for a defender.

But all in all, good luck in the final. You will need it against Charlton, assuming it is them, as they’ve been probably the best side I’ve seen, maybe other than Luton. I’d rather you went up than them though, as I believe their team will break up amidst their ownership uncertainty. You will go again if you lose.

They were some of the best games. Watching Merson week in week out was mind blowing he makes the game look easy!! We certainly played a far more excited and expansive brand of football then also! We romped the league

I know that’s why I feel like this  it’s like we were scared of losing ....
What's your overall opinion of the redknapp era ? Any bitterness towards him

It’s hard because I’m 28 and so I’m my life time he was in charge of our most successful period. With the championship romp and the game cup. Then the subsequent European adventure. The players that I saw playing for my team was unbelievable. Especially at that time I was 13 watching merson thinking Portsmouth were going to rule the world (far fetched I know but when your a kid eh?) so it’s hard to hold much animosity towards someone who brand good times. I also wonder a lot about the owners at the time... I mean if they said to him go and spend it.. is it his fault?

Why on earth would a normal thinking human do something like that? I don’t want him in or around my stadium thanks

Well I’m personally not ashamed no. We have had a good season. It’s ended flat and sour but someone has to lose. Good luck
what about the rest of the cast from deliverance that were next to him ? Most of the ***** there wanted a peace of it

Well I can’t help you out there mate. Most of the people moved out the way. It was only ‘hey you guys’ and his family getting involved. So hopefully they just get a life ban from the park

Also to be honest I’m disappointed in o’nien For not pressing charges. There’s no room for it. End of the day it’s a sport for us all to enjoy. From maybe next season I’d like to start taking my son so I could do without those type of folk being around

Most of them didn't and gave our players more abuse for sticking up for o'nien ?!

Yeah I agree with the above to be honest. We’ve not played attractive football all season. We just found a way to win always. We’ve not blown any teams away this season. Hopefully we learn a little bit of a lesson on tactics from this season. With a few good additions I think we can have a good go again next season as the three teams coming down aren’t as good as the 3 that will be going up. And as for attendances n all that jazz, it has no bearing on my thought process. 11000 at Bournemouth and they are in the prem. good luck in the final. Well played this season.

To be fair I’ve said the same about us. We’ve never really run away with games we’ve won. I think both our teams a pretty comparative and have neutralised the game every time we’ve met. Personally I was pleased to play you over two legs albeit I did think you’d beat us down there. I think we stand a better chance against Charlton or Doncaster in the final irrespective of end of season form.

Yes hard defeat to take really. We didn’t show up at all which is hard for me to swallow. I can take losing but when it’s in that manner you feel a bit more irritated I find. So many questions ... where was the desire. Why did we take off hawkings
And bring on Vaughn when IMO you bring on Vaughn and keep hawkings. Go for it. 5 upfront. It’s do or die... that said Sunderland managed the game superbly well. And dealt with anything we did offer... although I have to say also that Evans MUST score that first half header, obviously a different game if he does

Yes I agree about the header, although iirc Honeyman in the first leg had a header that hit your keeper in the face. Strange two attempts so similar.

Imho neither team played particularly well... but Portsmoutb were more frantic and less composed

To call all Pompy fans wankers, arseholes and tossers is a tad silly. 5 or 6 of them is not a true cross reference of thier fanbase.
We've got fans who've threaten to blow up part of thier stadium.
We've got fans who've shit themselves at the SOL.
We've got fans who've thrown projectiles at a disabled fan at st James park.

We've got our fair share of idiots. But we're mostly ok, like them.

It’s crazy because the start of the first leg we looked so composed it was frightening ... and then... yeah

Any trouble other than the O'Nien incident with either set of fans?

Certainly not that I saw. We walked back to the city centre afterwards and went for a drink in the Wetherspoons. Plenty of SAFC in colours (we weren’t). So if Pompey fans wanted targets they were easy to find. But I saw no hint of trouble. Pompey fans were very downbeat understandably but were fine with us.

It is unfortunate that there were problems at Wembley and at the league SoL game. But one always has to remember what a small minority it is that does nonsense like that.
