Tell your kids not to bother learning to drive too.Fill your boots mate. Better to start a career in a growing sector than one that has the writing on the wall. At what point in time, debateable. What do you do?

I must be the only one on here who likes driving trucks then
Easy steady job,if you like the open road, pretty much being your own boss and love your own company then go for it.
Driverless Lgv won’t happen in our lifetime I reckon, too much to go wrong.
It’s weird as it totally splits opinion, one of my mates has done it for just under a year and he’s only 22 and loves it, he says the ones who complain are the old timers who can’t get away with what they used to. The younger drivers like it as they haven’t known the job before all the rules and regulations and it’s well paid compared to a lot of dead end jobs out there. No, i enjoy the wagons as well. It''s a grest job with the right employer.

Brother in law was a chef and did this recently. He’s now earning similar money for less hours. Early start mind.I’m thinking about putting myself through my HGV licences and getting a job driving, is there any drivers on here and would you recommend it or stay away from the industry?
You'll need plenty rolls of carpets and good alibi's
Essential part of your kit.And a decent hammer, don't forget the hammer.
Aye I’ve heard your up and at them early in the morning, earlier you start then the earlier you get doneBrother in law was a chef and did this recently. He’s now earning similar money for less hours. Early start mind.
@abbs didn't you leave the job to do this?
Driverless trucks aren’t a long way off. If you are young I’d do something else.
Don’t think it will work in this country ,roads are far too busy.
America and Australia maybe
it makes the most sense where the roads are busy imo as the busier the roads the greater the potential impact of driver error. It wont be rolled out until the tech is bullet proof anyway. I doubt its going to be commonplace in the short term but once its proven, it will kill the driver industry very quickly as the savings associated with no driver to pay are huge.
Which one is that?good company in Durham always seem to wanting drivers.
katemWhich one is that?
