Im up here for the Trade Union weekend. Any recommendations for nightlife and eateries? My hotel is right near the conference centre and I know a walk is due :)

go to the west end - ashton lane is where nice bars are - brel is good as you can sit outside

merchant city bars are good - ginty mcginty's is nice and the food is good

merchant city has some nice pubs and places to eat and its right in the city centre, also for decent pubs you could head up the west end.

remember celtic play rangers this weekend so sunday will be crazy.

Up there last weekend and had a fantastic time. Its one of my favourite cities, but i will never visit on old firm weekend again.

Ashton Lane + Byres Road are both lovely: Oran Mor, Brel, etc are great pubs.
Bath Street has some lovely pubs: Butterfly and Pig, Bloc (good pizzas here), Slouch, Pony, Griffin, State. All great. No need to go to Sauchiehall but if you have to then I'd go to Firewater or Bierhalle, they're excellent.
Merchant City's nice, bit pricey but I'm a student so air is expensive as far as I'm concerned.
Don't go drinking on the night of the Old Firm, far far too much hassle, Ashton Lane might keep you safe but there's no guarantees on those nights.
Have a great time, its a fantastic city.

Hide in your room with the duvet over your head and keep still.
Try not to make eye contact with ANYONE, even your own reflection.

The most hospitable, friendly and polite people I've met, yet some are ignorant of the world outside, but then a lot of people here are to.
