Any exiles wishing they were home due to our form?

Life is too good in WA at the moment for me to even consider going back to live in England. Went back a few weeks ago and managed to see the Man U game, which was awsome, but nah, can't see me ever wanting to live back in the 'old country'.

Not really as there are more important things in my life that how SAFC are doing (now there was a time.........................)

Plus I get to see all games, home and away, on tv at a reasonable hour (night matches notwithstanding), plus the atmosphere at the SoL is not a patch on old RP.

I pick up the home games when I'm back from time to time.

If it goes on like this, I will be back for a couple of games in Feb/March, and be back for 2/3 weeks at the end of the season. It could all go tits up of course, but I'm not missing what could be an historic run-in. Getting aged parents two half-season tickets for Xmas just in case. Can't wait for Everton match.
My first post after a month's ban due to some bleating wanker running to the mods.
You have the honour of my untapped vitriol.
This thread reeks of your incomparable hypocrisy. You slavvery old twat.
For the rest of you.

Welcome back Des. Tremendous opening salvo.

Major Major, taking his right foot out of is mouth only to replace it with his left and vice versa.

There are 2 kinds of fans who are able to attend, those who go to encourage the team through thick & thin, and those who are encouraged to go to matches by success or good form.

My decision to live in the south of France was partly due to SAFC.
It's a fabulous place to live, and has the sunshine and lifestyle I wanted, but also a git big airport with budget airlines so I can get to the games.

My last was Spurs away and my next is Fulham.
I've always enjoyed the away games more as it's harder for people to attend so they're usually more committed.

As has been said this could be a critical time in our history and I'd rather be there to cheer us forward than just turn up to bask in the 'glory' afterwards. That would make me feel as if I'd done my bit, made a slight difference and been rewarded for 40 years of following the Lads.

 Quality.

Not a f***ing chance. See virtually every game on tv and wake up to blue skies every morning. Golf 2/3 times a week and the mrs is driving us to a BBQ as we speak. I go to the games when I'm home but I'll never live there permanently again, I'll fly the flag from afar.

Great to hear you think so well of the old place, as an aside if you're owt like the rest of the convicts out there, personally I'm pleased you have chosen to spend your days exiled in the colonies.

This shows the kind of supporter that we often see at Sunderland.

They jump off the 'we're all doomed' bandwagon onto the 'we're on the up' bandwagon without their feet ever touching the ground.

Returned 6 weeks ago:cool:, only blip was the mag match

Fcking hell if there is a worse, more patronising holier-than-though coming together than the Condems its the DesKebabMaakRivi Alliance, like been savaged by a sheep as someone once said.......

What a sad fcuk you are "Des". I was one of the thousands who were worried at the start of the season and expressed my views accordingly. The team, and Bruce, have done a great job in turning it around and well done to them, I am thrilled. If I want to spend my money to fly thousands of miles to watch the club I've followed for 43 years, I will do so thank you. Or perhaps I won't now, since you have exposed me as a doom-mongering charlatan, As someone who was once a pretty good poster, it is sad to see you like this. And of course Riv jumps on the bandwagon. Sad to say, there are mags on this board who talk more sense than both of you.

Home in Dublin from mid december til mid january if the A380 makes it in one piece.

Hoping to get over for a game or two when I'm back, as I always do.

Yes, I do actually.

But, I am planning to move back sometime next year. Hopefully around september.

I miss going to the match, I miss the matchday drink and craic with the lads but would I consider moving back?? Would I hell!! - There's more to life than football and Safc in general - yes we are all supporters (I was a season ticket holder for 15 years) but things change in life. That doesn't mean I don't avidly tune in when we are on Tv or look for links to watch us every week though

I do, does Coxhoe count????

Not an exile but wish I had more money at the moment..went a lot more last season and the season before when we were shit

Spot on, I trawled the country following Sunderland in 80's through the successive seasons of shite that was dished up. Back when my YTS wage was 28.50 a week I'd spend most of it following the lads, but times change and you realize that there's more to life than football. I still rarely miss a game on TV but I would never live my life around them again.

Nothing personal against anyone. People will live wherever it makes them happy. For me in my line of work I couldn't have the lifestyle I have here or the money to go with it if I moved back there, and no amount of trophies in the cabinet at the SOL are going to make up for that. Simple choice it's a no brainer.

Sydney fan is right of course. The best thing I ever did was move away 23 years ago. SAFC is by far the biggest miss along with family. When I was young nothing mattered more than SAFC. As you get older, things change. Having said that, nothing makes me happier than a SAFC win or goal, even now, and nothing can depress me more than a defeat. Although a Mak Maak/Riv post runs it close.
