Any changes for 2nd Test 🤔

Would not have picked Jacks said a few weeks ago did not think he would play a test, I was obviously wrong.

Guess it’s another sad example of the lack of spin options we have .

In fairness, all we need him to do is hold an end, Leach style. If he can bowl at a modest run rate and allow the seamers to rotate then he’s doing his job. He’s also better with the bat than Leach.

Fair to say the last 2 years with Bashir have been a waste of time
Just said the same on the test thread.
Debut series and that home summer aside, he's had 1 good test in his last 10 games.

Mate Jacks is better with the bat then Crawley and an out of form Stokes.
Think there's a scenario where Jacks is opening the batting in this series

Persisting with Bashir for 2 years and picking Jacks ahead of him, ouch.

Khawaja missing for Australia and Cummins still a possibility to play.

He’s better with the bat, but he’s a part timer with the ball. Holding up an end is optimistic

Our batting is pretty deep, with Carse at 10. There’s only Archer who’s a genuine tailender out of that XI really.

Crawley will get out for less than his average, if he can muster 25 it’ll be remarkable. We just need the middle order to score some runs.

Doesn't suggest much confidence in the batting line up if Jacks is there to strengthen it. I've been told by England that our batting line up is brilliant. Wonder what the odds are on Jack getting more than Crawley.

He is a handy number 8, but we don't need a number 8 as Atkinson and Carse are more than capable. We need someone to take the workload away from Archer (Injured for 5 years), Stokes (Hasn't completed a full series for a while), Atkinson (Injured this summer) and Carse (Chequered injury record over the years), and I am not sure Jacks is capable of bowling 15 tight overs in an innings. There is every chance he won't be needed much but that will also need the batting line-up to give our bowlers a rest, and under lights with the pink ball, I am not seeing us batting many overs.

It'a going to be interesting viewing either way. Jacks doesn't feel like test standard but i'll back the lad
Seems like they've bricked it with Bash mind.
you never know though it could be an inspired pick
