The Strawberry is getting hammered here
or a boycoutt over their rip off prices, didn't the mags only take around 8/900 to Everton 2 seasons back?

A poor game and an equally dreadful display from Jim Smith's depleted side never looked like giving United their first win in seven games.
In a sign of the times, a larger crowd were present at SJP 24 hours later for the club's open day - a meet and greet / ground tour affair arranged as part of the abortive share flotation.
Blue text is particularly interesting a sit is airbrushed from history. They shouted on for a share issue and the fans turned it down and the club actually lost money trying to float. Toon army (1193) propaganda has you believe that us beating them in the play offs saw the Halls steam in, it didn't. The fans turned their backs on the club and this infuriated Hall and he went away again for a year or two.
great thread ladsbut back to the OP
the share issue in 1990 was aimed at raising funds after the previous (88/89) relegation. im pretty sure george forbes was the chairman at the time iirc the minumum investment was £100 ( i put mine in) there was a minimum subcription amount which was never achieved s the float never happened. After this john hall formed the magpie group to mount an agressive takeover bid which in the end eventually happened in 1991 .
this was of course after the play off final loss, its a moot point that had we won and got promoted then the halls would not have gained control but we didnt and they did and the rest is history as they say...
not sure why anyone thinks this has been airbrushed form history,..?
anyway back to who took the most fans to bolton in the 80/81 season![]()
Na I only breakdown when people make sick comments about friends of mine who are no longer with us on message boards. Or when a rival teams get more recognition in the media and it drives me to be bitter beyond belief.

All of which are above the 7-thousand-odd you got for Wrexham.
indeed.
Who is he on Skunkers ned? Seems to be thick enough to be Vinnie.
not sure mate - he's supercilious enough to be phmc, but too stupid. phil or smartbeat would be my guess. I ain't been on skunkers for months.
Lets alsonot forget the fact that when Ardiles was in charge, you where within one point of going into what was the old third division, what where your crowds then ?WHICH WAS STILL HIGHER THAN YOUR AVERAGE GATE IN THE 89/90 SEASON WHEN YOU WENT UP! Your average in 90/91 was higher than ours although you were now in the big league whilst we were struggling near the foot of the 2nd division

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot ! Fancy starting a thread about The Mugs attendances
Anyway Shints, that season when Ardiles lost his job, I seem to recall a night match against Oxford when your crowd was given as 11,000 ish.
Not having a pop, wouldn't be that daft, just commenting on your previous post. FTM.
A year out then, never mind. I remember being at work and listening to it on the radio.
Feckin ell, I'm owld !![]()
