A poor game and an equally dreadful display from Jim Smith's depleted side never looked like giving United their first win in seven games.

In a sign of the times, a larger crowd were present at SJP 24 hours later for the club's open day - a meet and greet / ground tour affair arranged as part of the abortive share flotation.

Blue text is particularly interesting a sit is airbrushed from history. They shouted on for a share issue and the fans turned it down and the club actually lost money trying to float. Toon army (1193) propaganda has you believe that us beating them in the play offs saw the Halls steam in, it didn't. The fans turned their backs on the club and this infuriated Hall and he went away again for a year or two.

Actually what happened to that share floatation they were supposed to have last year when they were asking people to sink their pension funds into it? Seems to have died a death.

The NU$T got away with the con. Plenty paid the £10 joining fee for the square route of fuck all. :)

Sits nicely with other Mag/Stalinist airbrushing such as,

We never wanted Bobby Robson out.
We never claimed there was a waiting list when we were getting 52,000.
We never wanted Keegan back.
We never called anyone a 'Messiah'.
We never claimed Man Utd was our derby.
We never had our mam's bedsheets outside SJP.
We never ran from the Sunderland train escort before the last derby.

Feel free to add others as you wish ...........

Over the moon to get beaten in the 1990 play offs. Best thing that ever happened to them apparently.

MBH, let's keep adding them to my short list then we can just post it whenever the wankers come out with their bullshit like ........
'We never said Hughton was part of the Cockney Mafia'.

Walter change the record.

Just 1 year earlier Sunderland got 14,234 against the same team at home.
