Another two goals for Johnson Clarke Harris today

Record proves otherwise.
Try and read

The fact that you seem incapable of acknowledging is that by not replacing our strikers we have effectively thrown away our promotion chances from a very good position.

You have learnt zero from the Coventry match. Try and listen to our manager on why he thinks we lost

Bang average😀😀🙂😀😀

31 goals and 20 goals so far in his last 2 seasons in league one shows the absurdity of your comments

Not written off ok.
I tell you what if we get promotion I will admit I was wrong.
If we dont get promotion I hope you will do the same

Would not guarantee promotion but at least we wpuld have made an effort to achieve it.
Absurdity of my comment.... a 29yr old player, playing for Peterborough in league one.... bang average mate

At championship level he’s scored 21 goals in 98 games. Not absolutely shit but a long way off being a 5m championship player. By amazing coincidence Duncan Watmore has also scored 21 championship goals in 98 games. Not too bad for a wide forward and a year younger but very few would see him as a 5m forward. In short JCH isn’t good enough to invest 5m in and would probably score fewer goals than our very makeshift strikers like Dialo and Gelhardt. I doubt he’d have got more than three if his previous record is anything to go by.

Why do people keep talking about scoring rates, as if that's what we're really missing here?

If we were to sign a competent centre forward, who could lead the line properly, it would make us a better and more successful team this season even if that person didn't score a single goal. If they scored 4 or 5, even better. It would occupy defenders, get us up the pitch, relive pressure on the defence and create more space for all of our creative midfield players.

I don’t think there’s much evidence to suggest JCH could do that either. A competent striker certainly could, everyone agrees on that but a poor striker is a waste of a position that adds less than the likes of Diallo in that position.

I've never once seen him play, and thought that he wasn't an effective centre forward. He's a good footballer who can take the ball in, and/or run in behind.

One things for sure. He'd occupy defenders a lot more than the nothing we've got at the moment.

Like Danny Graham did?

If he was here, he'd be our best striker right now.
I’m not convinced that’s true as I doubt he’d offer any more than Gelhardt but using the same logic so would Wyke. Not the same as best option either, that might actually be Clarke, Diallo, Lihadji or even O’Nien if it’s not Gelhardt.

You're making the mistake of thinking I felt we didn't need a striker, which is incorrect. We 100% did, I agree its an error to not have signed one. However, the point I'm making is that I'm pleased we didn't just go out and signed anyone for the sake of it - for the reasons I said in the post you quoted.

Clarke-Harris isn't and never will be the answer to the issue.
Signing JCH would be idiotic but losing Stewart and not adequately replacing him has written off our chances.

I agree with this. We needed a striker and didn't get one. I am pleased we didn't just go for anyone in a panic though, because thats what we'd have done once upon a time. You have to find a certain kind of striker to play in this team, they have to be willing to graft and mix it in the air against centre halves. Movement is key as well to allow those attacking mids the chance to do their thing.

I see why we didn't get anyone in the short timeframe we had after Stewarts injury.
