I think we're getting Danny Graham who's a natural in both of those positions, or he was 15 years ago.Bring in an attacking midfielder with pace and a useful out and out striker and I definitely agree with you.

According to Millwall fan and journo Rod Liddle in the Sunday Times two weeks ago when discussing the league one and two salary cap, he said O’Brien was on £6k a week at the New Den and wouldn’t have joined Sunderland for less money so he’d be a luxury bench player you’d think!I'm unsure how you can be so confident about our recruitment.
O'Brien has replaced McNulty imo, he's basically someone that will come off the bench, I just can't see him dramatically improving our first team, I hope I'm wrong. Bailey-Wright was already here. Matthews is a backup keeper.
Where have we improved our first team? Power and Dobson, both inconsistent and pretty average, they are still in the frame for first team football. Wyke awful yet still starting friendly games. We've lost McLaughlin. No competition for Maguire and Gooch's places apart from Diamond, who is still unproven. No competiton in either wing back positions.

He’s surely been signed as a starter to improve our first choice eleven?

Monkeys mate not Neil Diamond .I’m a believer that Neil and Diamond should be near the first team.
That's surprising, however he did sign before the salaray cap didn't he so I believe his salary will be counted as 2.5k per week as opposed to 6k per week. I may have misinterpreted how the cap's calculated mind, but that's how I read it.
Matthews is questionable, other three look solid, Kosovan looks to have potential should he sign. Still need a centre forward, attacking midfielder and cover at left wing back. Can judge if/ when we bring those in and properly judge five or six games in- Grigg and Wyke are better than we have as yet seen.
Monkeys mate not Neil Diamond .
Sensible post. PP has said a few times that they want to wait and see how the PL/Championship clubs do their business as players may come available who would be normally out of our reach. Other than cover at wing back I think we have a reasonably strong squad. We'll sign a LWB, not sure the Garbutt deal is dead - offer is still on the table, who else is coming for him? Either way, this position will be our priority.
I don't think we'll sign an attacking midfielder, I think Neil's performance in friendlies will encourage Parkinson to discount that. Possibility of a loan signing perhaps here, but we'll see. Certainly not before window approaches.
I think he wants a striker and he wants Graham, but not sure Graham will sign for the wages we'll offer. Not sure we have other targets lined up. Depends how Grigg goes in September, think we'll keep a bit of wage budget back to see where we are. If he starts well, we won't sign one.
Dan Neil, Jack Diamond and Elliott Embleton are creative midfield players but of course they won't get a chance as Parky will play the one paced plodders like Power, Dobson and Leadbitter.
People keep saying this, yet neither Neil, Diamond, or Embleton have ever lined up in Power, Dobson or Leadbitter's position in our formation. Therefore, we have no evidence that they can do a job there.

Why would you want any of those players playing out of position? If Power and Dobson are 1st choice central midfielders, then Scowen and Leadbitter will be their backups.
Neil, Diamond and Embleton will be battling with O'Brien, Maguire and Gooch for the attacking midfielder positions
AGAIN !!!!!!AOB decent
Wright decent
Feeney okay
Mathews horrific
Danny Graham horrific
No creative midfielder
the last 3 are the most important and we've failed miserably

It is in a way , but lets not forget , the manager is being forced to throw them in because we are potless.I think it's really positive to see the likes of diamond and neil pushing for first team starts this season...
