Another of my oh so popular Sunderland on this day threads - 1989

What a goal from Slater

The next goal (3rd) by Kevin Keen is simlar to Phillips against the Mags in the rain but Keen's much tighter angle but of course Super Kev's is by far the better goal :cool:

Great memories of that game but who is it that flies into Shearer to get the ball back? :lol:

this definitely happened

@cbwhu

Going back a lot of years now, but do you have recollection of a match where you humped the Mags at home (probably the late 80s or early 90s) where the Newcastle goalie was carried off (Kevin Carr ?), Peter Beardsley went in goal, then he either went off or got swapped and Chris Waddle went in goal ?

that's the one I posted - 8-1

They used 3 keepers and Alvin Martin scored a goal against each one for what surley must be a unique hattrick

to be fair it was 4-0 after 40 mins with the proper keeper

Summed up West Ham perfectly, that season. Gave two of the three promoted sides a gubbing but would then get their arses kicked by relegation -bound sides like Stoke.
