Annual pay rise lottery

Put in a 12% request at my annual review. Didn't think I'd get it but figured I might get more than they'd offer otherwise.

Promptly heard there are consultations on redundancies. Think I may receive an offer of "you're lucky to have a job mate."

Not sure what mine will be but I’m led to believe the budget I have for my team is 5.4% Globally. To be allocated based on performance and current position in band

We only just (finally) agreed our 23-24 payrise in December.
They haven't even started talking about the next financial year yet.

Civil service so likely to be 2%…never been more than that the last 12 years or so, including a fair few years of pay freezes.

Got 4% last April then a further 2% with a £750 payment in October, goes up another 5% in April with a £1250 payment. Not bad all things considered.

Hopefully better than the last 3 years (0%, 1.5% and 1.7%) but I'm up for a promotion review so if that gets approved then it should be decent. So far I've passed the first hurdle but there are two more to go.

On the other hand our bonuses have been decent in recent years. Typically around 6-8%. It's cheaper for a business to pay one off bonuses than to increase base pay.

Union canvassed the members to see if we would be happy for them to ask for 10.1% rise from April 2023.

Haven't heard anything more but would assume that the members would not be averse to such a rise.

The reality is that we will be very fortunate to get a third of that. I will be over the moon to be proved wrong.

Would love a 10.1% rise to match inflation which was the criteria last year. But I bet the goal posts are moved again. Will be happy with half that I guess. As for our bonus we have made 25% profit on lasts year’s financial results so I’d be gutted if we don’t get more than last years bonus.

We settled relatively early. 10% but split 5% now and 5% in the summer. Company hedging their bets that costs will fall for them by then so they can absorb it over time.
Anyone, especially essential public services getting anything under inflation, is fully justified in voting to strike.

Expecting 3% but our bonus scheme is fantastic so can’t really grumble as their is people far less fortunate at the moment.

Our current bonus scheme is dreadful - there are three elements where 100% has to be achieved, UK-wide - UK External Revenue, UK Operating Margin and UK Free Cash Flow. We, the staff, have little or no input into the criteria to achieve these targets and if any of those elements are below 100%, there is no payout.

In the 12 years that the current company has had the contract we have received the grand total of £0.00 in bonus payments.

The previous contract holders paid us a bonus every year, just before Christmas. It ranged between £1500 and £550, depending on the company performance figures that particular year - we also got a case of wine delivered to our houses and £30 per person towards a Christmas meal. Not massive amounts but better than the sweet FA we get from the current lot - they used to give us £15 per head for a Christmas meal but that was cancelled in 2022. Set of French c@nts.

Was due to receive nothing from current employer, handed notice in and got a 5% uplift from new employer. Not great seeing as i have changed jobs but im included in the 2023 pay increases so hopefully overall an ok one overall.

That's crazy, You should asked to be bought out of the 'bonus scheme' and give reasons for the request i.e. no targets have been met in 12 years, no staff involvement in achieving the target etc

Makes me realise how fortunate I am, Hope you get sorted.
