Anichebe

How is he not? Defoe (who i would let bum me for the record) is physically incapable of holding the ball up. This means as a rule we have zero outlet and the ball just keeps coming back, Anichebe can do this very well, as a result we are not constantly on the defensive. Said in September I thought he would be a very astute signing for free.
Because anichebe will score about 5 goals and defoe wil probably get around 15-20

People are getting far too carried away by anichebe here mind

In the two games he has started for us he has basically been unplayable. He destroyed the Hull backline yesterday

Every bit as important as defoe :lol::lol::lol:

People dont half get carried away on here mind

If he can trap and hold the ball, lay it off and score the way he did yesterday on a regular basis then he could well be the bit in bold.. Doing it on a regular basis will be the key though

Averaged 2.5 goals a seasons playing as striker for the past 10 years

Let's not get carried away eh?
He's never started very much elsewhere.
It was noticeable yesterday that the longer the game went on, the better he got until in the end he was unplayable; he needs to start games.

Obviously has his limitations or he wouldnt be here for free but two exceptional performances. It actually seems years since we had a standout motm performance where a sunderland player just takes control of a game like he did against hull.

It was actually funny watching their defence trying to work out what to do. Started off tight and he was just winning everything in the air, so they loosened up to try to tidy up second balls and he just started letting the ball bounce and using his strength to shield the ball and run onto it, then they tried dropping back letting him have it and pushing him wide and tackling, which he barely seemed to notice. He's not gonna do that every week but he was a monster in that game. Great to see Defoe enjoying having someone to play with too, hes started to look a bit forlorn standing on his own in the opponent half chasing long balls hoping a defender fucks up.

he has grabbed it by the scruff of the neck & takes no shit, i think he is just what we needed tbh , he couldn't come on form at a better time, hes getting on now & has something to prove , & he is

Every man and his bastard dog knew we were lacking in this role, The boy has came in and did exactly what was needed hold it up and try and allow others in to attack also giving the defence a bit of a breather instead of it coming straight back at them. 28 year old jeeez if we can get him fit?his confidence is growing.

Aye, and consider the ridicule that was heaped on Moyes when he signed the lad. Not so ridiculous now eh?

N'Dong and Djilibodji on the other hand have yet to show that they are not disasters of Milton Nunez-like proportions (and I don't mean very small).

Ndong and papy for me are players who have potential. The fees for these two were too high in that respect. We didnt need potential and still dont. We need players who can succeed here now therefore they were poor decisions

Disagree, he is a reason for us to have hope we can get out of this mess this season. he is easily good enough to play in the premier and could be pivotal in iur fortunes changing. you'd have to be blind and stupid to not be optimistic with him and defoe up front

As we have shit for midfield then hoofing it long to a big fella like him who can hold it up makes a lot of sense.
Exactly mate, we've got the closest thing in years to Quinn & Phillips up front so all we need now is a midfield that can pass and a defence that can defend, so the big boot upfield makes 1000000% sense

a potent strike force can paper over any inefficiencies in any side. cos you can play shite, struggle to break teams down but hoy it up to thr big man and hope something falls for him or other striker. its not quite tiki taka football but it can be very effective

I cant believe the way people are going on about anichebe here like

Do yous not watch the premier league? Hes been capable of performances like this all his career man but on the whole hes shite

My Everton supporting mate said that hes incredibly strong, quick and good on the ball but he's never been good infront of goal.

We are obviously seeing a different side to finishing now but he did say hes a good player.

Worked a treat for Bolton for many years iirc. Used to annoy the hell out of the so-called skillful teams like Arsenal :)

To a lesser extent quinn and philips often got us results out of nothing.

Its happened with alot of teams where strikers work well together. sturridge and suarez nearly won the league for liverpool with their goals
