Spot on. A decent signing.
People need to realise that a top level striker will not come and play second fiddle to Defoe.

We've had a very difficult summer and it's largely not our fault.

I think we had a decent window all things considered

Sunderland are a club that's won nowt for decades, have an annual relegation battle and have just had a new manager yet again.

The people who think we can just sign whoever we like are actually deluded.

London is becoming ridiculously preferable, to WAGS if not the players, so we have very little to offer.

We can offer PL football, by the skin of our teeth, and a big stadium ....... in reality that's about all.

I think he's going to surprise a few, he's at an age now he can't blame anyone for not living upto the promise he showed while at Everton, nee fucker come in for him all summer so it's a wake up call, this is his very last chance at this level and I think he's going to do well.

If we'd had him to come on against Southampton we might have 2 more points.

If nothing else he can hold the ball and keep defenders occupied.

But there's no reason he can't chip in with goals if we can get the likes of Watmore, PVA, Januzaj getting behind defences and cutting the ball back.

He's not afraid of getting in the box and has a decent shot on him.

I've called him shit for years, but now he's here I'll really back him and hope he proves all doubters wrong.

Watching his first interview, I think it's refreshing that he admits the reason he hasn't lived up to his potential is all on him and he needs to sort himself out and work harder.

On top of that, Moyes knows him better than anyone so maybe he will do ok here. Certainly can't be worse than N'Doye, can he?

He will be the same as Ndoye. That's the problem. We got ourselves in this mess and just have to accept and hope he can 'do a job'. It's just a shambles to be fair. I do now think the people who said Palace were a small club are mental. Remy and Benteke as striking options and we have to make do with this lad.

I agree, it shouldn't have come down to us needing to sign him, but hopefully he can make more of a contribution than previous forwards like Graham and Altidore. Shouldn't be too difficult to do that like.

I long for the days we can sign 30m quid strikers like

And Cheshire, which helps the Manchester and Liverpool clubs as well as Stoke

We didn't need a £30m striker this summer. We have one of the best strikers outside of the big clubs in the league. I'd have hoped for better back up than Big Vic but let's be honest we weren't ever going to attract a top centre forward to play 2nd fiddle to Defoe

Aw I know that, I didn't mean we need one, just that it would be nice to know we were in a position to go for that kind of player.

He's a 28 year old striker who's scored 24 goals in his whole career :)

Minging stat that like

People are missing the point he's constantly injured how's he meant to cover people

still a small club

but that has nothing to do with signings

fact of the matter is we could've made those signings if we were willing to throw cash at everyone like Palace have.

we don't as we aren't in the financial position to, having made horrible mistakes doing that in the past with average players

Palace won't end well imo, Benteke been good in the past but lazy will not recover his form imo and Remy has barely played a game in 2 years

exactly the sort of players we shouldn't be in a bidding war for

Agree, I don't think he is a bad player and is better than Dozy and Graham !!

People don't realise this, we play with one up front ffs.

Listening to his interview sounds like been an attitude thing with him throughout his career. Knows hes got a last chance and Moyes should get the best out of him. Here's hoping anyway.

I'm pleased with him. Gives us a physical presence and an option. I'd much rather have him for nowt than have wasted millions on Naismith or Daryl Murphy.

Could the experts on this thread please name me a prolific striker during Moyes' reign at Everton? Someone who scored more than a measly 15 goals in a PL campaign...

It's not normally how he operates, but he has the bonus of already having a goal scorer, which he probably hasn't had much of in the past before Man Utd.

So Anichebe's goal record is irrelevant.

Can some provide me with a link to the list of players that's available.
They could.

So you like the idea he admits he's a waster ?
