Did we used to have one of these cups as a pre season event?

i might be wrong but it was back in the 70’s I think

It’s a good idea, purely for the reason that there would be carnage and it would finally put to bed the idea of Rangers and celtic playing in the English leagues.
Celtic beat Lazio home and away in the Europa League this year so you would have to reckon that they are probably better than every English league team outside of the top 10 in the Premier League at present.

I’m not sure that relevant mate.
Well it is if you were suggesting that Celtic or Rangers wouldn't be competitive against teams from the English leagues. I'm suggesting that they are probably competitive to lower Premier level based on results this season.

We did.
Only ever used to beat the mags.
Never beat Boro or Carlisle iirc.
Boro away 2-3 in 75 was mental. Only a 6000 crowd, hottest day of year and there was hell on. Only abt 700 Safc there as well.

I think it's a good idea - playing new teams, visiting new grounds, the added spice of national pride (that's still allowed, right?)
Current holders of the ASC are Chesterfield
