The source I'm using doesn't quite correspond with your figures. Additionally you are only using league stats, discounting any weighting for appearances and making wild conjecture about the quality and type of assists that the two provide with little or no evidence to back it up. Whichever way you cut it, Reid has created and scored more goals for SAFC than Steed Malbranque. That he has done it in 25% less appearances (discounting also the fact that he has made far less starts) only serves to emphasise the difference.

Reid undoubtedly has his faults and Steed undoubtedly has his uses. However, Reid should not be discounted just because he is not flavour of the month. I'd have him back around the team in a heartbeat - particularly if Zenden is unavailable for the weekend.

My figures are taken from the Premier League official site. I don't know where you got yours.
And the type of assists that Steed provided is superior to Reid's from what I've seen.
Just like I've said, some of Reid's assists came from corners and free kicks while Steed's assists came from open play.
A few examples:
- Corner vs Hull City. Reid takes a corner and the ball is handled by a Hull defender. Penalty and an assist for Reid;
- Corner vs Hull City. Reid takes a corner and Turner scores. Another assist;
- Corner vs Wolves. Reid takes the corner and a defender scores an OG. Assist for Reid.

Can we not peddle both Reid and Steed? Both have served a purpose but they're both too slow, too unfit and too inconsistent. Not really arsed about Reid going and I'd like to see Malbranque fazed out and bring in a proper winger in the summer.

Great move loaning out the only midfielder who can score and look dangerous crossing/shotting from free kicks.

Lethal partnership with Richardson though, class! :lol:

I've always thought his free kicks were poor. I watched him play for Sheffield the other night and he didn't look particularly fit, looking a bit porky again.

I don't agree with people who think we should sell Reid and Steed...

We're allowed have subs, you know? Neither of them are causing trouble at sitting on the bench, both of them are very talented players and offer something different. I doubt we'd get a lot of money from their sales anyway. What happens if we get some injuries?

Unless we get in a couple of players who are of a definite higher quality, we might as well keep both. We have no one who is able to hold the ball individually and beat players like Steed, and Reid is possibly the most gifted player technically, along with Zenden I suppose.

Reid has only played half the games that is the difference.

Quality player should be given a chance.

I would be very surprised if that was true, we don't really score many from corners and how can you use scoring a free kick like the beauty against west ham last year as a negative?

We can't forget that steed can't hit a barn door from 10 yards so far this season!
He's had busloads of chances and at different clubs as well.
He's slow and fat, things he could something about but rarely chooses to, despite being the recipient of an obscenely high and undeserved salary.
Our position and performances this season indicate we are certainly not missing him or steed.
We need to ship him out and bring in a hungry player, not an overfed one.

'Shotting'.
I do love your local patois.
