and if a woman had made those comments (or anything similar)... hmm...

Have you seen the other footage from last December ? Insinuating to a female presenter that his knob's hanging out and can she tuck his shirt in for him. That's the reson for the dismissal not the comments made over the weekend

Er no, in that Sky have released the footage and then taken action coincidentally at a point in time after he sues New International. also owned by one R.Murdoch

The footage had already been broadcast. Unless Im mistaken it was him. I dont trust Sky either, but IF they did sack him because of his legal action that would be unfair dismissal not constructive dismissal.

Point taken. But because we think about clothes and things so much, we tend to know when weve got microphones on.

You could make the point that the sacking of Gray is sexist. Oh the irony.

Bold move by Sky, Gray has been the hub of their football coverage since the game was invented in 1992.

I just don't agree that you'd get sacked in a normal workplace for making a joke about a women.

It happens. You at least get a warning. I got a warning myself for making a sexist remark, in jest, to the woman it was about.

And that was about 4 years ago when I worked in the bastion of workplace morality that is Mcdonalds.

Which is why, when I quit, I hilariously cited 'sexual tension between manager and i' as a reason for leaving

Tbf I'd expect her to let it die down before she does another game, especially after it has come out that Grey has lost his job. Everyone will be watching her, all the 'women shouldn't be here' types will be dying for her to make a mistake. As will most of the press, so they can continue to story.

Exactly if she ran the line tonight she would be the centre of interest rather than the game, cant be right that and nothing to do with pressue after 2 PL games

Whether it is soft or not, someone in his position should engage his brain before he opens his mouth. He works for the biggest monopoly in broadcasting and is on the TV 3 or 4 times a week in high profile situations, commenting on games that Sian Massey could be working on.

It's all very well saying a ref got something wrong, but he made assumptions that she wouldn't be able to do the job because of his prejudice.

I'd love to see him running the line because even after 8 of his fancy replays he still can't spot decisions. He makes a comment like 'that was a foul', then even if the replay shows it wasn't he still acts like the replay confirms his view. Not to mention his chuckling at Scholes terrible challenges that he never gets booked for.

excellent move by sky imo

i think gray did put many off, me especially from watching after and before the games. He said something offensive which he shouldn't have said and has been punished accordingly.

also he's a twat

He's been sacked because he's suing Murdoch, nothing to do with sexism at all.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

utter f***ing bollocks. You're telling me you've never made a joke about a women being better off in the kitchen (for example)? I don't believe you.

PC squad out in force again.

I'm a teacher and if I even hinted that a woman was not as qualified to do my job as well as me then I'd be out the door before my feet touched the ground.

I'm hardly PC either, this is just the society we live in these days.

That could be viewed as a sexist joke. Would HR care? Would they fuck. They would probably laugh at you and tell you to stop being such a fanny and get on with it.

But if a bloke said something about a woman being too dippy to realise her microphone was still on, she'd be given a months sick leave, given counselling, sexual harrasment compo and the lad concerned sacked.

The pressure all of this media coverage is putting on this lineswoman is awful for her. She is on the line at Crewe tonight and they have said there is a lot more interest from the national press than usual for their press box.

Every mistake/error she makes from now on is going to be headline news and will probably hinder her development.

I think in the 2 Premier League games she has done she has been spot on.

Feel sorry for her.
Agree with that. Going to be really hard for her now to just get on with her job.
