Andy Carroll

eh? cantona was gone when they won the biggest trophies..cantona didnt do the job on the european stage and in truth is arguably the most over rated player in premier league histry..he was good of course he was..but not anything like as good as many remmebr him to have been..not world class..irwin was world class..
There's some truth to this. At the time, Cantona seemed to have unbelievable skills and could do things most other players in England couldn't. Now, looking back at his highlight reels, his skills appear more ordinary. Maybe he stood out among more mediocre players of the day.

aklex fergusion thinks so..maybe he knows fuck all though..this board has proved its expertise so many times..

irwin won 4 titles in five seasons..and more after cantona fucked off..irwin is one of the most decorated players alive in the english game..united were very close to the league without cantona and won it loads without him...he is the most over rated footballer in the premier leafue era..a shiow boater with now team ethic or self control..who quit football as soon as he was found out..irwin was the best in england in his position for many years..maybe cantona was the best in his position for a year or two..but maybe not even that..

Irwin was mint, and its a good line from Fergie. But Cantona transformed the team

ah you see..your answering a different question to the one asked..the question is not who was the better player..it was who was the better signing..as irwin cost less..played more and won all the trophies cantona won..he was the better signing...cantona was just a flair player..and didnt united come second the year bbefore he joined? so he transformed them from second to first?

Don't be daft. Irwin was a great player and servant to the club but he didn't win them trophies in the same way Cantona did.
Irwin was an excellent player but Cantona was absolutely the catalyst for what they went on to achieve. And Leeds even lied about what they sold him for. A million quid.

none of the class of 92 were remotely like cantona in any way.they always behaved like professionals and were team players more than flair players..keane was the most important signing as he elevated them another level..irwin the best signing for his consistency....

he didnt fail..he became one of, or the, top scorer in premier league history..
Cantona was the catalyst for the upturn in Man Utd and for keane signing he may not of sinned if cantona never elevated the club , if you watch documentary’s he changed everyone’s mentality with the way he trained and his commitment to winning and mentality
We were a professional squad but Eric brought a new professionalism to the club. It was unique. He started training before us and stayed out longer than anyone else. It was a real eye-opener. It had a big effect on us and I also know how much it impacted on the Class of '92. The likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Gary Neville learnt so much from Eric and his professionalism."

It’s more the aura he brought to United they won 4 titles in 5 years with him and the one they didn’t is when he kung fu that helmet in the crowd, tho it never seemed to happen for him in Europe and the Dortmund 2nd leg semi in 97 is what probably made him hang up the boots, he missed chances got unlucky, whereas is premier he was always the hero

This fella only cost us about $600k

Kevin Phillips was the Premier League top scorer in the 1999–2000 season with 30 goals for Sunderland, a tally which won him the European Golden Boot.

He remains the only Englishman to win the trophy.

A good deal I recon 😍
