Got beats in ear ones for my birthday, f***ing class.
Wireless ear buds, no idea. Wired ones, then he should get Sennheiser Momentums. Mine are incredible for buds.

What are android ones? Surely all earphones work off all operating systems?
jaybirds x3s. not really a competition for sound and build quality.
if you dont want a neck strap sony wf-1000x are surprisingly good sound wise but have the usual strapless issues - no easy access controls and shite battery life (about 2.5-3 hours tops, then back in the charging case for 20-30 minutes) good for bus or train though cos the noise cancelling is phenomenal.

It's the remote functions that usually differ, and the mic. I've used iPhone sennheiser momentum earphones on an android and only the volume on the remote works

Heard good things about the AirPods and they work on all devices. Pricey like.
