Nelson’s age is irrelevant due to the previous regime totally f***ing up young player development by not loaning them out, so plenty of our players are years behind where they could be, but that’s not a reason to bin them just yet
Nelson is already on to his fourth loan. He's been at Hartlepool, Harrogate, Falkirk and Darlington. For what it's worth I would persevere with him and offer him a new contract as I would with Ethan Robson and Luke Molyneaux.

When Robson is back fit I'd loan him straight out as he isn't going to feature heavily here this season. Get him 15 - 20 senior games under his belt and come back challenging next season.

Robson simply has to be playing regular football for the rest of the season, and it very likely won't be here.

Nelson has only played 23 games in total while on loan, so unless Ross is going to sit him on the bench he may as well stay out on loan, but I would still prefer any SAFC player on the bench instead of that donkey Sinclair

Yes. I would still give him a new contract though. He has shown he is capable last season. I thought he was excellent against Wolves in the last game.

Pickford had 6 loans before he got a sniff of first team football with us (Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton, Carlisle, Bradford, Preston).

I agree with loaning him out to add further experienced but I'd also offer him a new deal despite his age.

As I've said about I would continue with he loans and offer him a new deal.

Feel for Nelson he’s been hit with injuries at bad times, much like Robson and Hume.

Think our fans would really take to him given a chance.

Interesting you say that because most agreed with the decisions on here and when Jimmy Sinclair said we would loan players out people went ape shit, check the thread

Yes, but those loans progressed through higher and higher divisions, and he got a lot football. At the same age as Nelson, Pickford was standing out in the Championship for Preston, and he'd already played about 100 games.

Nelson is 21 and has had a few short loans in lower leagues, the best of which was a 12 game spell in the Scottish 2nd tier. Like I said, he needs a proper loan for the 2nd half of the season at a decent level (league 2 or equivalent), playing regularly.

If he goes out on loan in jan for the rest of the season to say Grimsby and makes just a handful of sub appearances where then, hypothetical I know but a possibility

Well then he'll almost certainly be released at the end of his contract. He's 22 at the start of next season, if he goes out on loan and can't get a game in League 2, he's almost certainly not good enough for us.

Agree, which ever way you look at the kids situation the next 6 months are very big for his career, join the wrong club on loan or another injury and that’s it over unless he does a Kevin Phillips or Ian Wright

I mean he’s not Gonna be playing for us if we go up is he
You wouldn’t of thought so but the balls in his court, go out on loan to someone like Grimsby morecombe carlisle notts County etc and score 15 odd goals before end of season who knows what’s possible
