Can't remember Marriner getting slated that much when he didn't send Larsson off for a blatant second booking in your 4-0 win at Selhurst Park a couple of months ago. Odd that...

Or the excellent decision he gave us awarding a penalty for us away against Norwich last season in a 6 pointer relegation game about 5 games left in the season, that nobody else spotted till replay which was massive in the context of the game.

Got no idea why he did that seen as he hates us maybe catts was not playing that game

Funny how good decisions are forgotten and bad or possibly bad decisions are brought up years later.

I'll just ask the same question as every week, whats the point in using linesmen/women if they are just there to stare blankly until the referee makes the decision, or in the situations where they make a decision the referee overrules the call, just seems egomaniacal to me and is a breeding ground for poor decisions.

Happened a few times again yesterday, that wifey flagged for offside which was a decent call but Marriner gave a corner despite being further away.

The issue i take is the Retiree refs have called for extra assistants to cut out wrong decisions when the current crop don't actively utilise the ones they have now. It's not a matter of bias or hatred, it's the rules being too open to the singular interpretation of one person, until you have more rigid rules and stances on offences rather than the reliance on 2 different people to make the same call you'll always breed inconsistency which is then used as a stick to beat officials with, they're in a no win situation really, make call and they're in one teams bad books and vice versa, pretty thankless job really although they don't help themselves at times.

Another person with a rationale sensible contribution to the debate!

Why to you feel the need to abuse someone with a different view from yourself?

Do you not think help is needed to improve decision making and if not what do you think will improve the standard any ideas?
Because you relentlessly back referees and its just tedious. Doing it just to get a rise out of people man, you're sad as fuck

Actually no he isn't

He's one of the better posters on this board barring his defence of refs

Just strange again we have marriner & another controversial decision

Which ended up in jones in hospital

Because they simply have a very difficult job in proven very difficult circumstances.

I am not on here to get a rise out of people, I honestly think the way officials are treated is wrong and think the whole culture of football is wrong.

I think I am a fair minded bloke, and cant understand how it is accepted that fourth officials are shouted at for decisions that have nothing to do with them.

I honestly cannot understand how players purposely cheating every game is accepted while mistakes by officials are not even those these mistakes have always been made.
.
I try and convince people that it is very difficult job and think all the evidence of the past 20 years without a doubt proves that
.
To sum up mate, I find it sad that you think I am on a wind up just because I put a rational argument across.

I am not going to abuse you back because I honestly think officials get a very raw deal, if you don't think so that's fine

I honestly think now the refs are ballsing things up

Just to bring vt in

True refs have a bad job it took us years to bring GLT.

Yep the time for that is well overdue ,simply too difficult for the human eye with one look and one angle and too much money at stake for game changing decisions to be solely reliant on just the human eye.

He let far too much go. In a physical game like that you need to blow and assert your authority as a ref.

Didn't half kill the game today. Stop start stop start it was brutal.

Shows how 2 fans see a totally different game. One he lets it flow too much and the other he's too stop start. You can't please everyone

The fact @doodlebugs has liked both your posts shows the fact he knows f all about f all though, just another miserable bastard who likes it when people have a whinge about something on here

Only to a certain degree

I just think in every other sport and life come to that things have moved on, yet in football we still asking officials to use the same tools they had over 100 years ago, their eyes.

It is clearly not enough to get the amount of decisions right that needs to be right, surely it is clear as day they need help.

Stopping diving feigning injury could help but that is not likely to happen

Not often I watch the NFL but wish they could explain their decisions like what they dee

I'd be happy with that but not gannin to the video ref every five minutes

I have never gone with this explain their decision business because the answer is straightforward, If a ref has to explain a decision, all he would say is ' from the one angle/one look I had I thought it was a foul push etc.
