I agree I thought marriner was poor. Now can you admit your argument isn't valid when you can't compare the standard to any other league. For all you know the standard in this league could be the best in the world
It could be the best in the world doesn't detract from the fact it's piss poor, so my argument is valid and based on my personal opinion just like your constant defending of them is based on your opinion.

Where do you rank the standard of refereeing compared to all these other leagues you watch and compare them to?

How to you think the standard can be improved?

I think its impossible without the help of technology.

this is a good point but unfortunately for the game i can't see it ever happening as it would level the playing field so to speak.
referees are incredibly biased imo.

I think players cheat, managers cheat, players are excellent at making the slightest contact or even no contact look like a foul, yet in this crazy culture of football that is accepted.

But a honest mistake by the most honest man on the field is not accepted, and not only that, amazingly he is the one called a cheat! I honestly as a fair bloke find that very very confusing.

Then surely mate you cant criticise them for something that we agree is inevitable.

I honestly don't know as I don't watch enough football from abroad but from what I've seen all them make mistakes and nobody can do it perfect or even close to it.

This has made me chuckle, honestly, how the fuck do you know a honest mistake has been made by the most honest man on the field? Do you know these people on a personal level?

i agree with most of that but when the mistakes mostly appear to happen to favour the bigger teams it's hard to take.
it's what ruins the game for me. i can take the diving, feigning injury, time wasting etc but not when they aren't punished equally. that's when there is something sadly wrong.

And nobody is expecting them to be perfect, all we ask for is a bit of consistency and common sense.

Tin hat on but Catts booking was warranted in my opinion.

Yes a lot of other fouls went unpunished but to say this wasn't a booking is blinkered imo
If he'd booked their players for similar challenges you probably wouldn't have had this thread tbh. It's the inconsistency which fucks people off, and Marriner is an expert in this field.

Because based of what I see players do every week, dive, feign injury, claim throw ins corners when they clearly know not theirs, nobody can be more dishonest than them.:D

I criticise them for their lack of consistency, if the Cattermole/Snodgrass challenge was reversed I'm sure we know what the outcome would have been.

Common sense yeah, but consistency is impossible because similar fouls will always look different depending on your view and angle, consistency has never happened and never will.

The consistency thing is more of a dig at the bookings dished out, it seems they book a player for a foul then the same or similar foul is committed and doesn't get the same punishment.

Like I say mate similar fouls can look different depending on your view, its not a exact science mistakes will always be made.

I'm sorry mate but I really can't take that comment seriously.

See I am surprised at you, I thought you were making some good arguments.

But find the whole, 'The ref has only booked him because its Catts or because he plays for us a bit petty if I am honest, always have.

The decision not to give a free kick when Jones got injured was ridiculous.

Shoulder to shoulder charge is legal as long as within playing distance of the ball.

The ball was about twenty feet away when contact was made. The reason for the rule is that when you are running full pelt if someone knocks you, and it doesn't even have to be that hard, you are put off balance and can sustain a bad injury as was demonstrated today. Horrific non-decision by the ref.

It isn't petty, it's something that's been going on for years, certain players get booked on reputation, not just Cattermole.
