Pretty big find thank god isis never blew it all up

The sea has receded a fair distance hasn’t it?
Interesting. We never really here too much about the Sumerians
Our kids can’t be taught everything at school I suppose.

They learn about Ancient Rome which is fair enough as they ruled most of England and wales and left a legacy.

They’re taught about Greeks and Egyptians. To be fair our youngest has been learning about the Mayans.

I remember the class building a model Inca village when I was at High Southwick Juniors in 1960 and an Iron Age settlement with roundhouses with roofs made of drinking straws.

Of course we were quite close to Marley Pots so we didn't lack for any inspiration. I suspected at the time that there were still hunter gathers living on the playing fields up there given the number and variety of dead animal remains you could find on it.

I dunno What did the Sumerians ever do for us?
Give us a few myths to rewrite and include in the Old Testament.

So much more could be taught though about the early Indus Valley and Chinese civilisations.

When you look at the reconstruction of the Palace you have to wonder how a civilisation that can build something like that was able to fall.

Fascinating stuff.

We did about Mesopotamia in school (modern Iran and Iraq if I remember rightly). Always found the history of the Middle east fascinating.
