I know that has been asked many times but if Steve Bruce was to leave who would you have as manager and hiw long would you give him to make us a top eight team consistently ?

Let me turn this question around.

If Bruce was to leave, who in the Premier league, would employ him?

Norwich? Swansea? Brighton? Oh, you must mean a point at Anfield. Otherwise this statement is completely mystifying. Or have I gone to a parallel universe where everybody's gone completely gaga?

No, we won a few away games last season. Which makes our shite home form OK apparently

Nobody is on his back yet. He'll be the first to know when we are and he won't like it one little bit.

He pissed his pants crying last week when a few had the cheek to show their anger at being 2-0 in 5 minutes against West Brom

If you were that attached to the club why don't you want us to get a better manager?

I do want us to have a better manager I just happen to think the continued professional development of our current setup is a more realistic way of achieveming it. Babies and bathwater springs to mind

I'm not moaning, I'm trying to post in the same style as the Bruce lovers.

Everything is the fault of the fans. Everything. Except finishing 10th, that was down the tactical genius in charge of the team. That was nothing to do with the fans

I'm not saying it's all the fans fault. There's a lot of factors worth hoying in the mix.

Face it though. We're a twisty crowd. Go on man, admit it. Been that way for as long as I've been attending and I'm as guilty as the next man. I used to spend half the game yelling that Gordon Armstrong was a cement arse and I wasn't alone. For better or worse we're not a Fulham, we don't offer luke warm, unconditional support. We're passionate and it cuts both ways. Our expectations are higher.

Great thread... the overly positive sentiment is as distorted as the overly negative and they are all here in one easy read

Yes, the new team needs time to gel; yes, there are some factors working against him... but he's showing signs of a man without a plan.

The clock is ticking and I don't believe he's got the nous to turn it around. Hope I'm wrong... in the meantime we should get behind the lads. Whining and moaning aint gonna change anything for the better.

We are a twisty breed, it's a fair comment. Hoy the mags in with that as well.

I just think it is too easy to blame the fans. With our record in 2011, I think people are well within their rights to question the manager.

The expectations are high, yes. But it was Bruce at the start of the season blabbing on about this being our 'best ever squad' and aiming for top 8. We then start the season poorly and the fans have have set their expectations too high? Fans up here do have high expectations for some reason. But comments like that from Bruce isn't exactly going to help.

He is paid a f***ing fortune to manage the team. We pay a f***ing fortune to watch his team turn in piss poor performances week in, week out.

I think the most worrying thing about Bruce is the fact that he thinks all of this abuse is over this season's results only.

Yours aren't if you think our away form has been improving when we have gone from drawing at Anfield to losing at Brighton and Norwich.

Mine are. I think we would walk into the top 6 with the right manager. Even Pardew's threatening to to it ffs.

Cracking points, well made. I doubt anyone could be bothered to argue against such a robust analysis.

I hope I'm wrong about Bruce as well. I hope we turn this form around and finish in the top half.

Sadly, I really don't see Bruce turning it around.

I will still support the team as per

Yes, the new team needs time to gel;
Well this is becoming a very trite old cliché, but what does it mean exactly? He bought early in the window so if it takes the whole pre-season and half the season for them to gel, perhaps either somebody isn't doing a very good job (guess who) or the wholesale changing of a team we are repeatedly told is the 3rd best in 50 years didn't particulary need to be changed that much. Just lerrus kna.

I'm sure if you could think of a valid riposte you would have done.

Could you please just explain why you think our away form's improving? That would be a start, and I really can't work it out.

Well, we've seen an improvement in our away form of late
I can't wait... Should put Bertrand Russel, Hume, Kant, Socrates the lot into shade.

He's a whiner, always has been. No argument there mate. He's also proven to be an average PL manager which at our stage of development is an upgrade. If at some point in time a top six type manager fancies the gig I'd be all for hiring him.

So you would sack Bruce now in those circumstances?

Your opening thread is too long,so i haven't read it, instead I propose SB and the team win games more often and I will then not question their ability, commitment and application

Well, we've seen an improvement in our away form of late which suggests the players are happier away from the moaning gets at SOL. Who could blame them eh.

Shite home form tends to entitle the fans to moan at the poor pet lambs on millions a year.................

Nigh on impossible. Your wit, command of statistics and in depth analysis is such that I'm forced to retire hurt. Obviously any team that can gain a point at Anfield should be expected to roll over the lesser sides. That's just the way it is.

That was always my excuse when I hoyed grief at Armstrong. I'd paid me money like.

So you would sack Bruce now in those circumstances?

In a f***ing heartbeat. Who wouldn't?

When the top five are manure/mancity/chelski/arsenal/liverpool and then we chuck in Spurs I very much doubt we will be walking anywhere as easy as you think..

What we did under Reid is alas about the height of our achievable ambition these days...........

Indeed but the poor pet lambs on ten times what he ever made are exonerated from piss poor perfomances due to the fact they cant handle the pressure................

Stop evading the point I was making you said, memorably:

Well, we've seen an improvement in our away form of late

but we have gone from drawing at Liverpool to losing at Norwich and Brighton. Please explain what you meant.

As it happens I would actually expect a team that gets a great result like that to win those other games at Norwich and Swansea, but as I have pointed out over and over, Steve Bruce's teams never ever put 2 good results together.

Top 6 is a closed shop completely for the foreseeable. We're all chasing 7th place which is a bit sad really.
