Can you name four good managers and by that I mean consistently good managers in the Premiere League . I have tried and I cant . Obviouslly Ferguson Redknapp ( possibly ) and that is it really .

That is not an answer though, it's a deflection.
Then again you are agreeing with me.

I cant see the point your making here other then we should be happy with below par meritocracy.

I couldn't agree more. I think the majority who are calling for his head are most likely kids who don't know what we Sunderland fans have endured over the years. I have been a fan since around 2001 when I moved from scotland and we have never really had it better.
I also think any long term supporters who are calling for his head need a bloody good shake and told to stop being sheep and following the crowd.
I will probably get slated for this but we really do need to remember where we were 5 years ago!

I've been a fan since 1975 or so.
I was also a happy clapper pre-season.
He has demonstrated to me beyond all doubt this season that he is a buffoon of the highest order.
Bruce out!

I am trying to say that there is nobody bar the three or four mentioned who are good managers ....nobody else in the top league haqve proved their worth .

This is an appeal to those forum users who are so full of venom towards our manager .

Please take a little time to step back and count your blessings . Think where the club was , or perhaps you have not been around long enough to remember ? Begin to focus your attention on supporting Sunderland AFC not attacking an individual . You will feel better , you will enjoy your football more and be more willing and able to give vocal support to the players in red and white stripes .

The attack on Steve Bruce is making us the laughing stock of the football world . My contacts throughout England ( and in Newcastle ) cant believe the ignorance ( that sums it up ) , short sightedness , fickleness and hatred demonstrated by a minority of so called Sunderland supporters .

Steve Bruce is a good bloke , passionate for success at Sunderland and I believe will prove to be the best manager we have had . Steve Bruce is held in high esteem by football managers . I firmly believe that at the end of the next eight game period we will be in the top eight .If this is the case then I will be a very happy man . I look forward to getting behind the club at the next game as I have done for the last 50 years .

Should Steve Bruce go then I would imagine that the same ill feeling will go towards the next manager after a couple of years . A new manager does not guarantee success or better football .

I would suggest that the majority of the anti Steve Bruce brigade are of relatively young years and have been fed on a diet of sky highlights and the wonder of the Premeiership .

I would also suggest that many of the anti brigade take a crash course in English language . You will find that the English dictionary is full of some wonderful , thoughtful words which help you to explain your thoughts clearly and constructively . I am also amazed to at the number of experts we have out there obviouslly highly qualified in both coaching and finacial management . I wonder where I gain gain these qualifications within a couple of months ?

I dont know how long you have followed the lads but My time is from 1960 onwards...during that time I have seen managers and players come and go as well as my fair share of ups and downs, relegations and promotions fights and squabbles ,great games and bad, and really bad....I think i have enough nous to view constructively what is currently going on at the club...

I have to say that having watch and supported the lads over these past 10 months since Xmas last year another relegation beckons us with open arms if things stay the same...Too many times before I have watched the illfated train rumble on down the track into the headon collision that is relegation...

If it happens again.. thats me finished.

I don't rate him all that highly. Seemed too happy to admire the view without wanting to get any higher.

Nowt wrong with being happy at a club...particularly one whose let him get on with the job as he wanted...

Its often forgotten that Everton have produced some cracking kids whilst hes been there as well................

Wether its the so called best in 60 years ??...what you've got to look at is the money spent...over £70m...no manager has ever spent that in two years at our club...if this doesnt work within a few months then hes failing..simple..

I am trying to say that there is nobody bar the three or four mentioned who are good managers ....nobody else in the top league haqve proved their worth .

In the main due to the fact that the average life span of a PL manager is probably less than two seasons............

Bruce doesnt however inspire me or a lot of others with the confidence that if we give him time he will turn into something like a Moyes...

And his previous clubs and record certainly dont back that up either.............

My period is 1963 . I know exactly how you feel ( paragraph one ) . I am though not at all despondent . I firmly believe though that we will gel and that we will finish top eight with the squad and the manager we have .

You might well think that but there is no actual evidence that it will happen. Like winning games against West Brom, Norwich and Swansea for example.

I feel you must have a great number of crushing disappointments in your life.

4 wins in 22.

16 points from the last 21 games.

Playing away at Brighton with no strikers on the pitch but strikers on the bench, and this is after saying he's going to take the cups seriously.

"Judge me on Bents replacement" Well I'm still waiting.

Playing people out of position.

Still no left back.

If we do hit a bad run it's just not 3/4 games it has been 12/13/14 games.

Constantly looking for excuses.

Tactically inept.

That's just some of the reasons why I want Bruce out.

Been a season ticket holder for years and always will be but enough is enough for me.

I know that has been asked many times but if Steve Bruce was to leave who would you have as manager and hiw long would you give him to make us a top eight team consistently ?

Well you reckon Steve Bruce so lets talk about that...we dont pretend to have the answers, but then again we're not paid to!

Bruce will get us top 8 this season you say....i'll have that bet!!!!

+1 to OP.

Reading through the thread, it's interesting how the naysayers aren't very good with their facts. For example, we haven't been "shite in 2011".
