American Health Care

I've never experienced it myself but my mate took bad at a Disney hotel (food poisoning) and had to call an ambulance to the hotel. Everyone gets their own private room with a large screen TV on the wall and top notch scran. This was a Disney funded hospital and the care was first class. He got a barcode on his wrist and everytime you see a specialist or go for an X-ray they scan your barcode and it goes on your bill. Got a $35,000 bill for a 3 day stay.

I like that this looked like a post heaping praise on American healthcare until the last sentence.

:eek::eek:

And people on here complain about our NHS in the UK:rolleyes:

Long may the NHS remain in our hands.

Heard that sometimes the insurers fly UK patients back to the UK as it's cheaper for them to do that than allow the patients to receive treatment in the US.

Sounds like the American system is like the Vets over here.
'Do you have insurance?'....kerching!

And probably unnecessary stuff anarl

Unbelievable how insurance companies get screwed, windscreens for example one for a car I had was around £400, the windscreen company said it was £1000.

Nice earner for them.

I’m sure the care is very good if you can afford it. The problem is if you can’t and don’t have insurance.
The UK coverage of population is outstanding and that’s something to be really proud of imo.

You don’t always get the correct care though, it does have it’s downside.

How many people just get fobbed off?

It's worth pointing out that on the medical report they put something very vague on and it was so vague the insurance company wasn't going to pay out. It wasn't until he fought it that they agreed to put food poisoning as the official diagnosis.

Probably coz the insurance company will blame Disney and try to claim it back from them.

If you don't, you're not...

They don’t send you packing tho like a lot of people think. They treat you, put you right then sort out the finances. NHS is great but still requires billions to run. Someone still has to pay but thankfully you are not chased around by accountants and debt collectors after receiving help.
