Watching Altidore miss from 10cm's out.
Oh come on man, it was at least a whole yard.
For 6m or 8m or whatever, what can you expect? Not Suarez, for sure.

Watching Altidore miss from 10cm's out.
I guess the question is does anybody have a better solution. As we've said there are no great solutions so saying a given player is crap isn't helpful 'cause they all are. This season the team has scored 2.2x more with Altidore than without him. If there was some obvious plan I would say sure let's do it, but there isn't and we don't have time to develop something new. That leaves Poyet with the option of going back and seeing what has worked best over the course of the season. Again, if someone else has a better solution we're all ears.
Sunderland total vs. EPL opposition (league & cups) = 3660 minutes = 38 goals
Altidore on the field:
1969 minutes = 27 goals = 1 goal every 72.93 minutes (or 1.23 goals per 90 minutes)
Altidore not on the field:
1691 minutes = 11 goals = 1 goal every 153.72 minutes (or .56 goals per 90 minutes
but lets send him to the u-21s
I would buy that if we did better without him, but we've done much worse without him. As you said before Poyet has changed other things as well, but still we clearly have scored much less since he has been dropped. Again, what is your better plan? And I would question if we would be in this mess if Poyet had given some more time to the team that was so successful mid-season instead of chopping and changing. I agree that that team isn't great, but clearly the changes have been even worse.Persisting with Altidore is one of the reasons we're in this mess. He wont be here come August so no point even playing him now, these last few games will be mainly used as planning for next season I think. We just need to hope he scores at the World Cup or something so we can try to recoup a few million on him.
Shame he cant score any though ehIt is sad how blind some people are. Put players around him and the team will score goals.

Blind? f***ing hell man he is part of a the team that is currently f***ing bottom. He is part of the bastard f***ing problem. It is sad how blind some people are. Put players around him and the team will score goals.

That really destroys the theory that anyone but him would score goals...When he hasn't been playing, Sunderland has been much worst and goals has been even scarcer to come by...stats don't lie.It is sad how blind some people are. Put players around him and the team will score goals.
First thing is to remove the cup games, but I'm sure you could find a similar stat with some other random outfield player.

He's f***ing useless

West Brom.
With Sessegnon PL20 W6 D8 L6 Pts 26.
Without Sessegnon PL12 W0 D6 L6 Pts 6.
Which is surprising considering he contributes fuck all, no goals, no movement, can't pass, can't control a f***ing football etc etc etc.Ya, you lads choose to see what you want. The squad has scored more goals and played better with Altidore in it. Is he a great player? No, but the squad plays better with him in it. If Gus had a bit of sense he would pair him up top with someone else so he wouldn't be so isolated to see if it could work.
