Alnmouth Mackems

Live near Ford village and loads of Mackems around, though not many season card holders like me.
Lots in and around Berwick too.
Best beach for me is Cheswick/Goswick, on there Saturday morning and no more than 10 people on two miles of beach. Fantastic.

Why do people north of the tyne support us? Seems odd. Anyway the worst period in our history is almost behind us so we should get the next generation in Durham etc, we are on the up, our grandchildren will ask us with disbelief what it was like in league 1, as we will be challenging for trophies in Europe by that time with a reputation for attractive football and youth development. The ajax of the north.

Ellington mackem here...

Next door to Cresswell beach whilst we are on the topic of beaches. 🤣
Worked at Ellington 69-71 along with my father and uncle. Ex South Broomhill.

Not much to choose from, either a wee gers supporter or a mag.

Schooled in cramlington in the 90s and it’s 90% mags round there

The SAFC lads was a bit like a secret society

Most of us had dads from Sunderland area who had moved up for work or by bad judgement but kept the red and white in the family veins

I’ve escaped the place now thankfully, they were unbearable in the Keegan era and I expect the same currently

But can’t fault the Northumberland safc contingent for having a strong backbone

Unbearable when they were doing well but also funny to be up close and personal when the wheels fell off

Them chucking away the title in 1996 was a pleasure to watch

There was a school assembly around that time when they were particularly rabid and all started chanting toon toon black and white army and running around, smashed up the school library and everyone got sent home at about 10am

I walked home on my own shaking my head at the divvies then had an afternoon playing Sensible Soccer on my Amiga 500. My mam made me a bacon buttie when I got home. Decent day. FTM

Loads of MLFs in Northumberland. One reason we’re told is a lot of Durham miners moved up for work. Another is that Newcastle haven’t always been the top team in the north east by a long way (if that’s what you’re thinking). Even the famous Jackie Milburn from Ashington was a boyhood Sunderland fan - Google it. Hats off to the Northumbrian mackems, long may it continue and keep the faith.

Great to see Alnmouth Mackems flag on On the Road (3:30 in).

When you see the rise in Saudi tops its good to see our support in Northumberland is still strong. We know we have great support in Ashington, Blyth, Ellington and Newbiggin by the Sea but great to see further afield too.

Anyone on here?

Me and my son from Cramlington both at QPR. Plenty of our support up here, we've got mates in Seghill & New Hartley who are all Season Card holders.

My Granda was from East Howden, the CIU club there used to run a bus to Roker Park one week and St James the next. My Granda used to go each week and my dad did the same, but at some point, my dad decided he liked going to Sunderland best and he is a Sunderland supporter. He started taking me to Roker Park in the 70s when we lived in North Shields and I've been Sunderland all my life. Living in Shields and Wallsend as a red and white has been eventful through the years and now i'm in Cramlington and been taking my own son to games since he was 5. He wants to get a flag like the Alnmouth one that says Cramlington Mackems so you might see that out and about soon.

Was at Drift Cafe recently. 👍

Cheers. Just woke up, reading this thread and was thinking ah now what's the name of that cafe on the beach again! Been a few times with the Mrs and the mut but not for a few years. Nice beach though. The most secluded I've been to in Northumberland is Ross Back Sands which is about 3 miles long between Budle and the Holy Island navigation needles. Have to park up at Ross and walk through the farm and over the dunes.

There is a nice beach between Boulmer and Craster which is not that accessible by car so never really busy.

Not sure this has got to do with footy mind so FTMs 😀

Good to see posters on here who seemed good lads but never knew they from up this way. 👍

Lot in Morpeth too.

I'm now in cramlington and there are some here too. Mainly a mag infestation though never seen as many barcodes in any other Northumberland town.

Good to know marra. In the year and half I've been here yet to go to the shops without seeing a scum shirt.

There’s a fair few in Dunbar who have Newcastle as their “English team”.
Love Dunbar, cracking coastline and friendly people.

My stepmam was from there and visited quite a bit when her and my dad were just dating.

The beach just north of newton bay was the most secluded beach in Northumberland in the seventies as normal access was blocked for security reasons......used tp lay trawl lines to catch plaice and cod......fantastic memories of my Teens living in Craster! colornose point is where i want my ashes spilled!
Football hole, it's called.
