Alnmouth Mackems

Is it pronounced aLn - mowth even though Alnwick is Annik?
local language is peculiar ......Alnwick is on the river Aln so the L should be pronounced like in alnmouth {w lot also}but it isnt ..just like Boulmer which probably confuses most outsiders as its pronounced Boomerr. strangely there is a anik in Northumberland also.

Used to love the pub in Ellington with all the arcade machines when I was a nipper, dad used to dump us in there while he hit the drink.

My marra had a caravan at Ellington and went to the pub in the village l, think it was called The Plough, to watch us play and they got chased out by a gamg of rabid mags. They headed straight back to the caravan park and reckoned the same gang of local came round the site that night looking for them

that’s the one , the Plough, immense games room for a 7 year old 😀

Any Sunderland fan born in Northumberland should be viewed the same as any Mag born in County Durham. Anything else is ripe hypocrisy. They are one of the same. We haven't won anything for 50 years, the mags haven't won anything since colour TV was invented so it hasn't been success that has sorted one fanbase from the other. Just attention seekers trying to go against the grain.
This is the worst post ever on here.

I’ll tell you what, I dare you to say that to the lads coming off the Ellington Branch coach at either the home or away games and see what reaction you get.

I grew up & lived in Ellington until I was 18 and had no idea there was any pub with a games room in until this post

My da always drank at the other end of the village in the tute. I was in there with him on Sunday for a couple pints.

Speaking of pronouncing town names right go further down the coast slightly and my mam got the scorn of Northumberland when she moved up here and pronounced Combois as “cam-bwaaaah” when we all know it’s “cammisss”

I've asked me Dad the name of it as I'm not sure if it was the Plough, the Widdrington Inn I've seen on here rings a bell.
