All that is wrong with the English game

We've got no reliable experience, we've got no decent youth, time to give the ladies a go, imho.

At least we'd get to see some jubblies.

Great isn't it? You know, Stevie f***ing G could probably go out and smash some poor fuckers face in and the media would still be queueing up to suck him off...... Oh hang on.......

The players were trying to keep the ball for a while in the first half. Unfortunately this involved some passing back to the defenders ... the crowd starts booing. All that is wrong with English Football ... include the f***ing clueless fans who have a go at the players for any reason whatsoever.

I think it was MicMac at the world cup he made the point that it's all very well passing the ball square - but at the end of the day we aren't tecnically gifted enough to keep the ball for long passages of play - so as soon as the opposition close down, the ball get's hoofed forward - so his argument was you might as well hoof it forward straightaway!!

The problem remains with youth development (and this applies right across Home Nations). Until the FA or SFA spent money on decent facilities for kids to train in, we won't produce technically gifted players. They can't rely on football academies run by the clubs - because they can only take on a limited number of kids anyway - it needs a network of investment in indoor 'barns' with full size pitches with the latest astroturf - so that kids can play on a decent surface all year round. Until then we will continue to produce big lumps who can kick the ball out of a muddy puddle for 50 yards.

Yes but this is a man who championed the footballing skills of Kevin Kyle, Andy Gray, Jeff Whitley, Christian Bassila, Steve Caldwell and Daryl Murphy just for starters

Gerrard was Englands MOTM and was nowhere near his best. Shows how poor and ineffective the rest of the team were.

The players aren't intelligent enough to understand the instructions given to them, and even if they did they're not technically good enough to carry them out.

It's actually a mindset thing more than anything. Kids, and their coaches, need to prioritise skill over aggression.

Someone should come up with a version of football rules for young kids, designed to promote control, awareness and skills (eg. on receiving the ball you have to retain it for 5 seconds before you can release it). Then play those rules at school, maybe also in a league. Before you know it, the French and Spanish are looking enviously at what the English can do with a ball which, together with our traditional aggression and athleticism, makes us unstoppable.
