Alienware Gaming Laptop

Winger
I recently buggered my macbook pro and got quoted 600 quid to repair. So I've decided that's a daft idea and instead I'm now looking into a gaming laptop.

The Alienware R3 has caught my eye, anybody game on a laptop and can weigh in? I cant go down the desktop route unfortunately.

alienwares are pretty wank and over priced, paying quite allot more just for the alienware name

Lenovo legions seem to be the best bang for buck atm

The R3 ive been looking at is around 1300, i7 10750h with rtx 2070 super. I do like the aesthetic of it aswell as the performance.

What would be a comparable legion to the r3 do you reckon? A quick glance looks like they are a little bit cheaper like

Take a good look at the thermals it performs at if you do pick an alienware up, they have a bad habit of good performance at the cost of being able to heat your whole house.

Looked at Alienware but come to the conclusion they're arent actually that great for the money. After hours of looking i ended up with a HP Omen, couldn't be beaten for what it cost

I got this laptop from PC Specialists and I'vE hAD No comPLaInTs tHUs fAR...;)
I had a PC specialist laptop (Defiance II) and it was excellent. Lasted 5 years and was only my clumsiness with the charging port that backed it. I currently have an Acer predator which performs well but either has to be loud or hot. Doesn't feel as solid either. My next laptop will be another PC specialist one I think.

In general I would recommend PC Specialists/ a laptop built to your spec. But, at the same time I bought an Alienware a couple of years ago and it is doing me very well. It does run very hot but I've had no problems or slowdowns.

I got a pc specialist one earlier this year , took about a month to come but for the price couldn’t get the same spec anywhere else . Been solid so far

it’s complete overkill for what I use it for - playing footy manager mainly but would highly recommend them for a laptop

They are very well built.

would you have a link to the omen that you got? Interested to see what the prices are in the uk compared to Ireland (where I am)
Also interested in the specs. I'm a systems engineer , used deal with hardware in work many years ago but been out of it since then so not really up on the specs anymore.

Just been looking at getting a new pc and was half thinking of getting an xbox to play forza then thought why not get a decent pc that can do both.
