Shame, he was never going to be a superstar though.

We will need another one in as Cabral looks like a walking yellow card and will need a period of adjustment.

Personally i would much rather have Cattermole as back up to Cabral than N'Diaye. People have such short memories on here....

I'd wager that Alf would be far more useful as a squad player coming off the bench than Cattermole. Leaving aside the fitness issue Catts has proved time and again in a SAFC shirt that he needs a number of games to get up to speed before he plays his best. That's something you can't afford in an occasional player.

Its a strange move for me. I'm not particularly enamoured with Larsson in the middle. Leaving aside team roles I just don't see him being effective in there. Alf is no passer but he is generally effective when he plays. I'm comfortable enough seeing him leave but I would expect two to come in now - and at least three more to go.

another baffling decision. just get them sold if a) they arent good enough (graham) or b) dont want to be here (n'diaye).

hate all this lending out of players who arent going to develop or want to come back. pointless. how many other teams loan out players in their mid 20s ?

Alfie is a good player, and I thought he could have been a very valuable player for us this season. Disappointing to see him go, he seemed to excel under Di Canio and means we need to get at least another 2 central midfielders in. (If not 3, depending on outgoings, although Ba looking decent is a boost)

Lord Alfred will you now try and claim you were right all along despite admitting you were wrong about Alfie

I stand by what i've said previously. He was abysmal for the first half dozen games bar the first 45 mins of his debut. He then improved a fair bit under Di Canio and my apology was after the Villa mauling when he was just about the only player to turn up on the night. He certainly improved but it was from a very low base imo.....genuinely not bothered about him leaving.

Are we fuck man....

We'd be without our main midfield signing and the only midfielder who showed anything of note last season. Back to relying on the shite Brucey brought in. That's pretty dire whichever way you cut it. At least one cm recruit is vital for our season. Fail to bring in enough effective midfield players and it'll be another season of relegation struggles.

Perhaps N'Diaye performs the same function as Cabral and Di Canio rates Cabral more

what if Cabral gets injured?

Also, I disagree with alot of what Trevor Francis say but not when he said Sunderlands squad isn't strong enough, so what do the club go and do, shift out one of their better players
