Alfie not wanted

Might have something to do with the total fee which was in the region of £3.5m....sure I've read we paid an initial £1.8m then loaned him out before the next round of payments were due..

I only seen him once for Betis (playing in midfield in a league game by the way - fuckwit johnson take note) and it was away to Barcelona. He played very, very well and caused them loads of problems bombing forward and supporting a lone striker. If he is capable of replicating that here then he would be an asset as none of the others that we currently have can do that.

Thought he was promising to be honest, but I think his wages were quite high.

Still - will always rightly be a cult hero here for that 'Balls of Steel' photo...that and the Borini goal celebration at the Scum are my two fave SAFC pics of recent years...

the reason poyet/the club no longer want alf has absolutely nothing to do with the lads ability and everything to do with his wage.

Considering we're losing most of our midfield, I thought it would have been prudent to keep him. I also thought he showed a lot of promise.

But not the end of the world.

dont think he would have made that much of a difference during the season and wouldnt have been better off if he didnt go out on loan

get him off the wage bill and try and get a couple of mill for him

couldnt tell you mate but all the talk when he went out on loan was we wanted rid because of his wage.
I remember that talk. Always felt it was made up rubbish by those defending the decision to allow him to go. The other one I remember was how Cabral had really impressed in training. Well that turned out bullshit
