Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

I can't decide if its a lack of money or a lack of desire to even bring one in.

Clearly isn't much money there but the money we do have they don't even spend on a striker. They'd rather pay £3m combined for a backup winger and backup defender.

I don't get it tbh
Its clear to see that Speakman focusses all his efforts to bring in wide attacking players that can play in multiple positions..its as if he sees a player that plays in one set position stifling the team

There is no con, KLD is just relatively conservative with his spending, fixed up the AOL last summer, doing the SoL this. Brought in young players to develop to make the club sustainable which he's said from the start was his plan. Prioritised the academy. It's more Bob Murray than Ellis Short, looking more to the long term.

Tried to sign forwards, none of them have worked out yet. They failed in bids for Stansfield and Moore last season, brought in Simms the year before, which shows they can identify good forwards at least.
It’s very basic to be able to identify a forward . Their role is to acquire them . Maintaining the stadium is also a prerequisite. The ticketing operation remains poor and the majority of young players aren’t good enough . That’s without the managerial shambles and the BCB/ Newcastle issue . He’s no Bob Murray

After watching the Bradford and Preston games only 2 or 3 of our "2nd string" are good enough to put in the 1st team.

Need to replace Hjelde, get another CB, LB and RB ,Right winger and 2 Centre forwards.
You realistically want us to sign almost a full new back 4 and a 3rd right winger?

I'm sick of everyone thinking we're this 16th place squad, for 18 months we were in and around the play offs, yes they fucked up with the manager situation in January and that is the only reason we finished where we did.

If anyone honestly believes this squad is a 16th place squad then you need to stop watching football.

We have some excellent championship players, which is looking like the club have somehow managed to retain.

They're all a year older and we will sign a cf this window, we will be in and around the play offs, I've got no doubt on all of that.
I've had no doubt that we would sign a CF the last 3 windows but it didn't happen. I admire your confidence and we have a core of the starting 11 who are good players however, if we pick up 2 or 3 injuries/suspensions that's when we have to bring in the shite.

Our overall squad strength and depth it's extremely poor and that's why, imo we will be nowhere near the play offs again this year.

...it's been over 18months regarding the striker situation. If they thought Hemir, Mayenda, Burstow and Rusyn were up to the job of playing Championship first team football...then they are out of their depth.

I know we aren't going to because we've got the skint billionaire, but yes, those are areas where we have next to no cover.

If Hume or Cirkin get injured we are struggling and I hope you don't count Ba as a right winger because he should be playing non League football at best.

I've just said in another post, we have a decent core starting 11 but after that our squad is terrible.

Our squad depth isn't too bad either, again people judging them based on all 11 being thrown in against a preston full strength team. That will never ever have to happen, any team would look shit making 11 changes.

Spent a canny bit doing up Eppleton too

Yep.

It’s incredible how much utter shite Speakman has managed to pack the squad out with in the last three or four windows. So much so, that we’re now between a rock and a hard place. There’s too many of them - and they’re too shite - to move them on.

We have a handy starting eleven but are a few injuries away from having serious problems.

This is our squad after the 1st eleven @leerik_canamole

Moore - give him a chance
Triantis - never seen him play well yet
Joe Anderson - just no
Hjelde - awful
Pembele - going
Ba - non League player
Aouchiche - just runs around like a headless chicken most of the time
Bennette - needs to go
Mundle - looks decent
Rigg- baller
Poveda - if can stay fit might be decent.
Mayenda, Hemir, Rusyn - awful

That list should give people nightmares.

Ba as Roberts replacement, miles off
Mundle or Bennette as Clarks replacement, miles off
The strikers, doesn't matter who plays up front miles off all of them
Matete in midfield, miles off
Hjelde as cover at left back or centre half, miles off
Anderson, see Hjelde
Triantis as cover for Ballard or O'nien, miles off
Johnson cover at right back, miles off
The two keepers brought in as cover for Patto, miles off

Ineptitude is arguably fair, I don't see where the con is.
I think what the lad your responding to means is that KLD & Speakman have dragged out the replacement Centre Forward issue since a year ago gone last January, some 20 months or so, and still have not addressed the glaring hole in the side that most supporters as well as local media can see. That, for me, is down to one of two things, Money and ambition. These players we tend to go after can see that they are not prepared to pay the going rate which then leads to questions on a perceived lack of ambition by the ownership. Its that clear.
