Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

Not a chance will them players command them fees.
Yes, they will. People say this all the time and get proven wrong. Heard this about Clarke before and then we put a 25-30m price tag on him. Hume already had an 8m bid from Galatasaray. Jobe already has a 20m valuation set.

Ballard most definitely will be at least 15m same with Neil so. only questionable one is maybe Ekwah

If the squad is worth over 100m why aren't the club wiling to spend a bit of money on a striker or two off the back of it?
honestly, if we stuck to the model properly i'd at least try to make one of those sales that help us reinvest. If we could get a decent fee for ekwah just to help get a CF in i'd be taking it

Like our strikers themselves, they've become shot shy due to previous failures. Probably compounded with them not wanting their own Will Grigg situation where a fortune (for the division we were in) was spent on one striker that stunk the place out.

Cos the owner said it has to be a striker who scores goals. Even though last year his mate brought in 4 who couldn't

Just seems to me that if our board believe in similar types of valuations for our players, then there's no real reason why they shouldn't be signing at least on proven strike or two. Players like Stansfield, who looks like he'd represent good value at 5/6m could/should go on to make another good profit, if he was to be signed.

Yeah I was wondering which way round it was were we keeping hold of them until replacements were found or are we struggling to shift them? I’m guessing they’re looking to loan Hemir and Mayenda (with an option to recall) and get rid of Rusyn.

I do think either way we need to bite the bullet soon and either let them go for less than what we’re asking for or buy and hope we can shift aIfter.
I think Aooshish will be out of the door with Pembele, Rusyn , Hemir and others before the window closes but for me, as I say, its funding causing the problem along with Speakman buying a bunch of players hoping for them to come good from last season. ..

We can't even sign one striker and you think we'll get rid of all 3??

If those valuations are true and we have wealthy owners anyway, they really shouldn't have to sell anyone first.

I don't believe we'd get the kind of money quoted for Ekwah mind. He's not even a starter anymore. I think something around 6/7m, but then there's his heavy sell on fee which wouldn't give us much left to play with.

this is where it all falls down, they need to decide what the plan is, if it is to develop and sell at a profit then we need cash in, IF we then reinvest back into the first 11 it would make sense.

The sticking point here seems to be the fact that a few are notionally valuing our squad in the hundereds of millions, yet we are still scratching round trying to bring in div 2 players.

Just seems to be unbalanced. It's also beyond stupid to sell a top player and then go into the transfer market, any side we deal wtih will hike up prices.

Basically speakman appears incapable of identifying and delivering a competent striker, ie one that understands how to consistently score goals.

The club (and fans) can't keeping dinning out on that Will Grigg excuse mate.....we'd never sign another striker again if that was the case!

The recruitment of the strikers last season was a bigger gamble than Grigg tbh, as there was only Rusyn who had any kind record of scoring in league football, the rest where unproven and where a huge gamble to lead the line.

A proven goalscorer will often cost money, it doesn't guarantee it, but its often the case that you pay more for quality. Considering the squad valuation should be seen as money in the bank and then having a seriously rich ownership group, I think the board themselves could/should push the boat out on a proven striker or two.

He’d want higher wages than those who are already here though.

It shouldn't come into the equation but there's very clearly a lot of indecision when it comes to recruiting strikers and it doesn't look like anyone at the club can spot one. Even the loans they've got in from PL clubs have been absolutely stinking, so if they can't even get a striker on loan who is even semi-useful, then you can understand why they'd be hesitant spending a chunk of the budget on a permanent one.
