Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

The school ground shit on this thread is doing my head in, bring back KFC talk.

I’m saying nowt on here until he signs (which I still believe is happening) because there’s too many people arguing amongst themselves like bairns 😂

If the argue is about KFC, Burger King or McDonald’s I’m not interested.

And that shows how thin we are as a squad (talent wise) and that we're relying on Jack Clarke to produce the goods.

Nothing as changed.(yet)
Head coach? I don’t think people realise how much it makes a difference to a squad. Whether le bris is that man we don’t know yet.

But this is EXACTLY what Speakman's job is, and has been for some time. You are right, we can all see it, fans and managers of other clubs can see it, tabloid journalists and fuckwit millennial bloggers can see it FFS, but he is incapable of fixing it. We "chucked brass" at four players as you said, NONE of which is up to the job, as was proven by their goal returns. We've seen them again this pre-season and they have not kicked on an iota. Those four players were identified, scouted and signed by KS. If this continues, we will regress and L1 is the only eventual result of that. There is NO evidence to suggest KS is improving in his competence, if anything, he's got worse over his time here.

Of course it is, any competent football director or whatever the title is, should be capable of identifying a player who fits the bill. Even more there must be a scouting team reporting back.

He lacks the ability to make decisive signings, and so spreads his funds across the board and wastes what we have.

we signed 4 duds last season (up top), and sacked off a good gaffer into the bargain.

Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman has been discussing Michael Beale's appointment

Kristjaan Speakman says he is confident that Michael Beale is the right person to drive the next stage of Sunderland's footballing development.
The club's sporting director spoke at Beale's first press conference on Wednesday afternoon and outlined the reasons why the former Rangers and QPR boss had won the race to succeed Tony Mowbray, noting his work and talent on the training pitch as a key reason.
"You have a bit of an understanding about the coaches on the circuit, and our paths had crossed a few times," Speakman said.
"We always try to ensure that we have a really good understanding of the coaches that are out there doing well, doing different things, and outperforming [expectation]. "Everything we've seen in the first two days from Michael is exactly what we thought we were getting. An excellent on-field coach, his preparations, his thought processes behind training and what the boys are doing is some of the best work I've seen.

Glad you brought up his actual quote.

Speakman should have gone the minute they sacked Beale. A man that in all my years supporting the club have I ever seen so many of our supporters, pundits so universally against Beale being appointed. The club didn’t want to listen (as per CF situation) they where either incompetent, ignorant, arrogant or all three in believing he was an uplift in calibre from TM.

A good head coach will make a huge difference - just look how Rohl transformed Sheffield Wednesday last season - but it wouldn’t half make his job easier if he was given even the basic tools required to do his job efficiently.

As for posters saying they’re confident the club will address the issues before the window closes, I wish I shared your view!

People were saying exactly the same thing before the last window closed, and the window before that … and the window before that ….

Spot on

I prefer McDonald’s…

He isn't a dcm, he is a far better player pushed forward, again square pegs round holes, see Jobe playing as a striker last season too.
He certainly fits the type of 6 we will be using, they need to be able to attack as well as defend well, more of a deep-lying playmaker role (I know that is FM speak but you get me haha)

Its worse mate really because the boat load are not even Bradford standard .

I know. Im still optimistic having browne in the middle will help the 1st team be more consistent and raise other players levels including those who seem quite a bit off the run of play. Poveda will be a good signing aswell. Ever the optimist

No argument at all KFC all day long

Probably worth remembering it's Scottish football mind. Amad only made 13 appearances and Rangers fans widely regarded him as not good enough. Wouldn't put a lot of stock in a young kid seemingly not doing well out on loan.

you would hope however he was busting a gut with effort to impress enough to get into their side, and back into ours.

Huge determination is massively lacking in a lot of our lads. Every fan can see a lad who leaves it all out there.

I would agree with Hemir, but Mayenda has always looked very keen to impress to me.
Nonsense.
The majority had no issues.
Okay mate, it's nonsense if you say so

because they preferred their own permanent players, they were having a mare and didn't want to trust a 19 year old loanee
Well not entirely, because they trusted our other loanee. Not starting is one thing, but not even making the machday squad for months on end is quite damning.
