So if you ignore the last 3 seasons then his record isn't good?! I could see if it was his first 3 seasons then a drop off, you might have a point, but it isn't.

He may or may not work out but he's the most "proven" striker we have signed under this ownership.

It's not very poor.

0.5, 0.25, 0.33, 0.45, 0.35, 0.3, 0.2 goals per 90 in his previous seasons in Ligue 1. He's capable of 1 in 3 in Ligue 1 which is solid enough

0.55, 0.57, 0.61 in the last three seasons. 0.47 across his whole career.

Let's ignore his last 3 seasons and look at his stats before that because that suits my negative outlook!


He could be shite but when signing a player, the last 3 years of his career are far more important than the years before that
 
Completely agree that you’d much prefer Mendy’s trajectory. Look at Alfie May, he’s 31 and seems to have hit a fairly late patch of scoring. Before 2020 he hadn’t scored that many but has been unbelievable in recent years - not too dissimilar to Mendy.

Only 3 players have scored more than 30 Championship goals in the last 20 seasons - one was Mitrovic, the second was Ivan Toney, and the third was, erm, Glenn Murray.

Top scorers / close to thirty the last few years have been

Mitrovic twice
Pukki
Toney

Then one season wonder Akpom and most likely szmodics who I doubt will ever score 28 in a season again

We have contacted Tottenham about Lankshear but I’d rather we just developed our own young players rather than borrow theirs myself.

Mayenda particularly is someone I’d quite like to see come off our bench, I think he’s the best out of our current crop as today is.

We enquired about Lankshear a while ago now like not sure if that’s gone much further

I wouldn’t mind Lankshear coming in with Mendy but it would be nice if Mayenda and Hemir made an impact this season.
