Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

I know. We keep chasing Mendy and are prepared to pay a low fee but can't get a deal done. Then the window is about to end and we get a Chelsea or Everton young non goal scoring loan.

But not before this thread has 20k plus of posts and much angst.

The odds of our gamble compared to Ipswich's on getting promoted were much worse, im sure if we were 2nd we would have went for it. My main point is you can't compare us to Ipswich at that point in time, they were in a position to bet the house, we weren't.

It was never the same gamble. We had to gamble to get in the playoffs, which we'll have to do every season if the priority is to go up without spending big. Ipswich had to gamble on more firepower to keep them in the mix for automatics, which they did and are now reapping the rewards. We shit ourselves and dropped from 7th to 16th.

BTW...they were in a position to bet the house?...we're talking about bringing a striker in of which Ipswich already had 4 or 5 before bringing in another 2 in Jan. We had a bunch of kids who couldn't get on the pitch and then paid out 4m for 2 players for the bench. Are you seriously trying to tell me we couldn't afford an experienced striker in January? given we needed one the summer before that, and the winter before that.

The biggest gamble of all was going without a recognised striker or two. End of story.

I am not saying that at all . You mentioned negotiation . My point is to negotiate successfully you need to have altenatives you can go to and we havent.
You are the one talking rubbish
My view is pay the money and stop pissing about.
We've been linked with another 3/4 strikers how do we not have alternatives?
Your view is silly and wrong

I think it's known as negotiation. I guess we could go back to spending millions on complete knackers just to keep you happy.

Managed to contradict yourself AGAIN within 3 lines of text. Assume you must be on a wind up

And yet the biggest club in the championship by far is still in it
What the living crap does that have to do with anything?

Are we the richest? No.

Are we still rebuilding the mess left over by previous regimes? Yes.

Have you ever read the accounts at all?

TBF this is what was expected with Rusyn and we got our man eventually.

The Stewart money?.....the 4m + we spent on Mundle and Hjelde to sit on the bench? or even a spare few quid from from the Co Ownership?....surely they could have found a bit spare change down the back of their collective sofa's.

The co-ownership that had put in nearly 20m before even counting last season? Hjelde was needed as the entire defence and backups were injured, plus one for the future. Mundle also one for the future. They have a squad to build after having our youth teams gutted by the last owners. The Stewart money was probably already spent.

Where have you got the £20m figure from?

I have a girlfriend mate and go out plenty with my mates. Takes two seconds to type on a tweet. I’m not sure why you’re so agitated about what I do?

Why do you give a fuck?

I like talking about the club I support it’s a hobby for me I don’t get why that annoys you so much
10 out of 10 for a comeback

Hjelde wasn't needed.

I'm not saying he's not going to turn out to be a good signing, I've no idea, but he wasn't needed. When we signed him we had accepted not getting automatic promotion. At that point we have an exciting u21 team, most of whom are actually u18 level players or just over that due to, as you say, the previous regime gutting our academy.

The left back of that team is one of the most promising players. There was nothing stopping us giving him a chance. Especially when we also signed Styles who was capable of playing there as well.
