Alexandre Mendy (transfer rumour)

It's about ability for me. We need a couple of championship level strikers. If that's a new one (Mendy) and Rusyn or Mayenda or whatever then fine. He doesn't have to sign 2 or more, but we need 2 strikers who are good enough. On last season's showing we have 0

One that stays fit and has an impact would possibly do as he could then be supplemented by Rusyn, Mayenda, Jobe, even a loan.

It's a risk but an adequate one makes a massive impact IMO.

Two would be ideal but then it's maybe giving up on the likes of Rusyn when realistically signings of his ilk may need six months or a year to adjust anyway.

We can't go into another season without even a functional striker (not even an out and out goalscorer) just one who dies the basics and expect anything but a struggle IMO.

Just my opinion but I think Rusyn will be good for us, as long as he's not our first choice centre forward. Mayenda I also like but at his age and lack of experience I think we should consider any contribution he makes this season a bonus.

Say we get Mendy on a permanent and this Spurs kid on loan. Then I think we'll find that Rusyn is a good option who could also play off Mendy, or wide etc.

Hemir needs a loan out, he's too young to give up on entirely, especially as a big, target centre forward, they often get better later.

I think Mayenda will be looked at as the third choice he seems to be favoured by le bris atm I’d say.

I think some people get it in their head that unless a player is under 25 and his contract is expiring in a year then you shouldn’t spend decent money on him

A couple of million on a striker who scores 15 goals can be a superb investment. Not only in league position and possible promotion but also bringing along the younger players too. It’s also 15 goals that need assists, so players like Clarke, Neil, Hume and so on will be seeing their value increase through goal contributions too.

We might never get a sale for him, but a couple of million can still be well spent

Good lad
Spot on. The value isn’t just in the player himself but also what he can do for the value around him.

1.2 million with add ons for the same player is better like then you can get a Malian under 19 sprinter that will be his successor for the same cash.

I totally agree and the Mendy rumours make me hopeful we’re in for one. Whether it’s him or not isn’t really for me to know (although I like the look of him)

My main issue with Hemir is he just isn't aggressive enough . There is only a year between him and Armstrong who looks like he would rip your head off to get to the ball first but Hemir just seems to plod about . Hemirs highlights before he got here looked a decent technical footballer but I fear he lacks desire

Or confidence maybe.

It's either aggression, fitness, desire or mobility but I agree. I don't think he'll ever be that type of all action forward, so he needs to be able to pin defenders, win his headers and link up with our other attackers.

As you say he's nowhere near it yet, get him a loan move to L1/L2/NL to play every week, might find some form playing every game.

I think Rusyn is too lightweight. Not particularly strong, fast or skillful. Doesn’t show any aggression either.

Like a Ukrainian Roy O’Donovan for me like

Think he’s better than that. Showed glimpses last year which is more than O Donovan showed

Certainly not cut out to lead the line and playing with his back to goal or even on the shoulder as he's tried to play as he's not quick or strong enough as you say.

By his own admission he likes playing from the left. That would maybe allow him to drift infield or make late runs off defenders but I can't see how we could fit that into a system given Clarke occupies that area and also gives some defensive cover, which I doubt Rusyn would.

Hopefully I'm proven wrong and he hits the ground running, but like you I cannot see enough raw attributes to think he's going to be a regular starter that can do well.

Rusyn is a wide player IMO and Mayenda needs a loan to L2.

For me I think mayenda is better off sticking around the club this season, he has a few elements off his game to work on with our coaching staff and to learn how reggie wants to play. Then next season when hes 20 we either use him more or send him out on loan - just what i feel would be best for him, no use going out on loan and losing confidence before youre ready.
