Foot Mercato get a lot wrong as well as right. They deal with French agents. There’s a reason santi, who broke the news, follows Mendy on instagram and Mendy is liking his posts. There’s an agenda being pushed in the media.

If the price is near 4-5m like someone else has just said they’ll not get any buyer taking him for that like. Will end up wi the an unhappy player on their books

You’d have to assume that’s why the player came out and said “I’m going to Sunderland” he knows they are miles apart and it trying to force it.

Yeah I definitely agree here, the media/his agent are definitely pushing for it heavily, his statement ruling out all the other clubs was bizarre though.

Surely they'll know we are incredibly stingy and will just still them to piss off of they're asking too much, won't really pressure us too much and hurts his chances of getting a move elsewhere.

It was reported by one of the French media that we had offered way under £1 mill euros.

Sorry but I know he is 30, but he scored over 20 goals last season so that sort of bid says one things :

they are pissing about to say they made a bid but couldn’t get it done but they don’t really want him but again are trying to con the fans that they have tried,

Don’t forget we paid Leeds over £1.6 mill for Hjelde ffs.

While I'm not in way suggesting any of our current lot would have gone to have a record anything like that, it's also the case that time and stability is provided to allow young players to even begin to fulfill their potential. We appear far too happy to throw folk on the skip and when you combine that with youth recruitment, it won't go well on the whole.

He was more than happy with how the team performed the season prior.

Exactly, although I did feel at the time that this was another part of why Mowbray lost his job. Must have killed the confidence of a couple of that bunch up front, don't think any of them got 3 games in a row.

Again though like you said, I'm not sure any of them would have proved to be anything of a revelation last season but it wasn't great man management.
